  • Golftown - trade-in + 50% of value

I've heard GT does a special once or twice a year where they give you an additional 50% of the trade-in value for your clubs, anybody know when this is?

I know my set is around $115 so in this case i would get $115 + 58 = $173, not too bad..

    Thx.

Where we can find trade in values? I assume it would be pretty low.

            i.e. resale value = $200 trade-in value equals $100.

            Gross Margin = (($200-$100)/$200))

Golf 99 is an ebay seller, they use the id Golfavenue99... they only sell fixed price auctions vs 3balls. Needless to say the fella at Golf99 are making a much higher margin with lower trade in prices and also high sales prices.

You're way better off heading to Fore Golfers Only in St Thomas...you will get a better bang for your buck on trades compared to GT, no comparison really, and you will only pay HST on the difference between trade and amount $pent.

Golf Avenue use to be a couple guys running a small operation but they've certainly grown over the past number of years. I've bought lots of stuff from them.

It's reflective of the market. Too much product in secondary channels. The estimated resale of the club is 40 bucks auction style on ebay. Means on trade someone is making 15-20 less overhead. It's costs money to handle, ship, etc. at the end of the day golf retail is bad for resellers, consumers, basically everyone

I am aware of the situation that lead to clubs being discounted and then slashed on the secondary market. $400 worth of clubs for $50 seems crazy less than a season later.

no doubt, blame it on demo programs. if there wasnt $50m in demos sold online through secondary channels every year there wouldnt be such an abundance of product hurting the values

What I usually tend to do is find a "happy medium" between what the club sells for used (Globalgolf, 2ndswing, Golfavenue, etc.) vs the trade in value and sell for that price either on here or on Kijiji.

I think what you'll get would be more than at GT, even when factoring in the extra 50%; heh.

Ie. say they give you $30 for RBZ stage 2 FW, plus an extra 50% would be about $45 - I sold mine for $60; heh.

I think thats a great model... if you want to do the work of finding a buyer yourself. That extra $30 isnt worth it to most people to post an ad, wait around for someone, and then actually have to meet someone to sell it
