ppl that use this forum...

    ppl that use this forum...

    just doin some snooping around and noticed a couple of members on here selling a bunch of different items.. several threads as well..

    so i click on theyre user profile, then threads started, and finally all posts..

    of course there is an initial 5 posts.... then all FS threads from there out...

    now i know the rules.. 5 posts... but this is a bit much no? theres no contribution other than FS threads?

    I don't have any issues with people just posting stuff for sale. If it increases traffic to the BST it becomes a more efficient market place.

      Why does there have to be any kind of contribution, if all they want to do is to use the forum for their own Gain so be it, I for one couldn't care less, the forum has many different functions for members, some love to post and talk about everything and anything, some of the threads are worth reading, some are not...

      The poster might benefit from the FS threads but many a member also benefits, I am sure they have made a few members happy with their goods they sell in the FS threads, one day they may contribute an opinion or two, the forum is made up of a number of avenues, have never seen any rules in my yrs belonging here that defines ones membership...

            I enjoy browsing them and actually find their posts helpful in as much as they provide an indication of used merchandise value, and I have based some of my asking prices on that information.
            Alternatives include more posts required and or charging for FS posts, do we really want either of those?

              I would take exception to someone banging a car dealership, that is just a bizarre fetish.

                  Most of my posts are in the Local Pub. I worked at a golf course for over 10 years and also played professionally. Basically spent my waking hours talking with people about golf and hearing them talk about how to fix their swing. I like being able to check the 19th hole or the Golf Course section, but I mostly like the Pub banter with a Golf-Addicts point of view.

                  To me, golf is about having fun and socializing with friends/strangers you get paired-up with.

                    I'm not crazy on how all the "FS" posts appear on the "New Posts" list when I go to the site, but after a while, I can tune them out. Unless I'm in the market for something.

                    To each their own. Some people are more sociable than others –just like the game itself. Those that don't contribute, nor build any kind of rapport, are less likely to be trusted. For example, if I see two guys selling the same club, for roughly the same price, I'd be more inclined to buy from the guy I know. Rare occurrence, but you get my point.

                        I guess the point of my post from dealing with alot of ppl on this forum is as of lately if I try to deal with someone who is on here to sell stuff it's more business like and more hassle.. Where as the ppl you see with 200+ posts or 'regulars' is like chatting with an old buddy and quite easy

                          Very true Mike, I hear what your saying and there is a lot of truth to your point, I would rather deal with and buy something from someone I know as the level of trust is a lot higher....

                              I agree with you. I participate with a number of social media, but this one feels like a real community. And in real life, businessmen participate in the community in different ways, like the barbershop that sponsors a local kids hockey team.

                              It's kind of old fashioned but it contributes to the sense of community. So my preference is that the guys who use this forum simply to sell should understand this basic proposition and make a contribution to the community. But at the same time, if they have a good sales record and a good price...I still bought stuff from the grumpy old guy who owned the hardware store down the street.
