  • Gator in Florida

A massive alligator was spotted roaming a Florida golf course last week, going for a stroll and sunning itself just a short putt away from the pin.

    Jesus that gator is huge.

Can I get a ruling on how to play that putt? Is that a moveable obstruction

    Read somewhere, 12 feet.

Maybe a good way to increase pace of play

Gators are common sightings every time i'm down in florida golfing, but i've never seen one come up on the green like that! i'd be forfeiting that pro v1 for sure.
usually it's the visitors that try to get too close for photos. Pretty freaky. He doesn't have spikeless shoes on either.

you will be entitled to a free drop due to a dangerous hazard. similarly to what garcia got when his ball was near a water sprinkler and there what was later determined to be the African killer bees.

There was lots of gators in Myrtle Beach at the Heritage Golf course. Pretty cool actually. Never seen a gator that close. They line the 18th down the right side.

Really! How did he get there without tearing up the green?

This was shot at the Old Corkscrew course in Florida last year:

He was just lying in the sun on the bank of the pond on 18. I was using what was effectively a 450 mm lens on a DSLR.

Maybe we could bring some of those up here. Notice there is not a single Canada Goose in the pictures.

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!
