  • Kids under 17 Free at Canadian Open

I was at the volunteer orientation on the weekend and this year they have expanded the kids are free at the open.

In the past they had to be accompanied by a ticketed adult. This year no restrictions. Any kids under 17 are free whether accompanied by an adult or not.

I think its a good move to get more kids into the game.

I think it's fantastic. Attending a PGA event and standing right there when the pros hit their shots is something to see.

I posted in another thread, but I'll say it here as well. If you buy a Canada House pass and you plan along to bring your little one for free, you will be denied at the door because your child hasn't paid the upcharge between regular pass and Canada House pass. I'm not even sure you can, but it's something to consider.

in 2013, children weren't allowed in. I bought a pass and my son was denied entry so I couldn't go in either. When I paid, it wasn't stated that children would not able to access Canada House. They were kind enough to refund the difference.

It would be good if there was a shaded children's area where they could relax, use the washroom, get a drink and play on putting greens or other golf related games. They get tired pretty easily at these events.

Both times i've taken my son, he has had a great time. The pro's are great with the kids and happy to give out balls, sign autographs, stop and say hello etc. Last time we went, Graeme McDowell dropped a ball into my son's hand; then later, we saw him near the clubhouse and asked him to sign it, which he did. My boy was ecstatic.

Sweet! My daughter wants to watch, but I have to work that week. Now I only need to drop off and pick up her and her friends.

This year, my bank comped me a pair of tickets to get into the VIP and Players' tent where all the meals will be served. We also get access to the enclosed patio by the 18th green. I don't know who will be more excited to attend this event (me or my 15 year old son)!

Does anyone know if kids are allowed in to the Canada House? I'm going tomorrow with a 12 year old, and I don't know if I should bother purchasing the Golf Canada House Anyday ticket as opposed to the Anyday Grounds Ticket. Any insight would be appreciated.
