• THE GTA AM TOUR TAKES FLIGHT WITH A GREAT NEW SPONSOR

The GTA AM Tour is very pleased to announce that they have taken flight with a great new sponsor. The GTA AM Tour and Air Canada have entered into a three year Partnership as Air Canada becomes the Official Airline of The GTA AM Tour and will provide first place prizing to the Tour. Also, as part of this new partnership, the GTA AM Tour is pleased to announce the renaming of the final seasonal event as The Air Canada Tour Championship.

This amazing Partnership will see the winners of each of the four competitive flights (Champ, A, B & C) receive a voucher for the purchase of two economy Air Canada flights at a 30% discount to the published fare posted on https://www...ada.com. Event winners, in each of the four Flights (Champ, A, B,& C), at any one of the three Major events, will receive, one economy class ticket to any Air Canada destination within continental North America, excluding Hawaii. Lastly, the four flight winners (Champ, A, B,& C) of The Air Canada Tour Championship, will win two economy class tickets to any Air Canada destination within continental North America, including Hawaii. And, if that's not enough, Air Canada will provide a ten percent (10%) discount voucher to all Tour players in each of the two Air Canada named Tour Events to be used for the purchase of an Air Canada flight for one or two people on the Air Canada website for travel anywhere in continental North America.

"We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Air Canada and are excited to be working with them to promote their Corporate Booking Programs to Tour players, host Clubs and fellow Tour Sponsors" said Mark Young, Canadian Golf Tours Inc. President. "In its 13 year history, the Tour has increased the number of players and events, rounds played and marketplace exposure. As marketplace exposure has increased, the Tour has continued to provide value to our sponsors in delivering the very desirable and brand loyal demographic of the Tour community. We firmly believe Tour players will embrace this program and are looking forward to working with Air Canada on increasing its customer base by providing our players with additional opportunities to "to fly with the BEST!"

"Air Canada is excited and honoured to become the Official Airline of the GTA AM Tour for the next three seasons," said Bambina Marcello, Director, Business Development, Air Canada. "Our partnership with The GTA AM Tour will provide an opportunity to connect with players on the Tour, an invaluable opportunity considering the quality of the participants and the camaraderie the Tour creates. We look forward to being a part of something special."

Very nice to get Air Canada sponsorship.

Did not realize that the new Senior flight is not a competitive flight. Too bad.

Senior and Women's flights are competitive. The winners will get TMaG prizing and be eligible for a year long competition for the Myrtle Beach trip.

But clearly considered a lesser flight with no option for the Air Canada prizes.

I would think that most players that are Sr. and still competitive will play in a flight, so the amount of actual people playing in such a low flight or woman's would mean the same few winning over and over. There is like 7 Ladies signed up. Why can't the Sr. B players just play with the C flight when they are playing the same yardage? 7 potential Flights per event seems like massive overkill.

Because there was a lot of interest from guys with Champ/A caps to play, but they couldn't compete at the yardage for A flight (I witnessed this a few times over the years where guys were bumped into A flight, and were having trouble reaching par 4's in 2). Same of B caps with B yardages. So the senior flights address that issue.

I spoke to Mark Young at the Golf Show yesterday, he's working hard to keep this tour a successful and fun venue. As far as flights are concerned it's always tough to keep everyone happy. Let's see where opinions lie in October after its been tested.

Congrats on successfully reaching out to Air Canada as a sponsor! I'm sure that was no small feat!

Senior players have their choice as to which flight they wish to play in. The seniors' and women's flights were added, in response to requests from players, so the Tour has listened to its constituents and responded.

It's remarkable how some find fault with anything and everything, and usually from a solipsistic perspective at the expense of community.

BTW, this thread is an announcement about a new Tour sponsor.

The 3 new flights are in pilot test mode at this point. When enough interest/participation is generated, we would love nothing more than to be able to offer more prizing for all competitors. We are hopeful that is not far off!!!

Sorry if I didn't think that a demand for this is needed or believe that competition was to be inclusive to all. I find it redundant to have a new Flight for players when the yardage differences are basically 0 to 100 yards. Just seems like sour grapes, and truly a business move vs. increasing competition. Sorry for making an observation and having a question your greatness...

Either way, congrats on continuing to grow the Tour Mark!

The difference in yardage from A to B is significant on most courses we play. Guys like you and I may not notice, but I have seen it be a real factor. Only time will tell if there is enough interest to sustain these new flights.

I guess, but I just don't see it as 200 yards is a game changer that throws you completely out and makes you go from actually competing to questioning showing up. As I said, seems like sour grapes as prizing shouldn't be the reason you play.

Yep. I've played regardless of prizing for years. Some years has been better than others. It's trending in the right direction now, and if the new flights bring more players from a wider demographic range, it can only help prizing going forward. The courses, professional feel, competition, and camaraderie are much bigger factors for me.

First of all let me say, as I have said many times, that this is a great tour and Mark is a great guy whose organization and responsiveness is the main reason I play. Being someone who pushed for the Senior flight, because I cannot play 6500 yards anymore, I appreciate the effort to set up a new flight.

As someone else said, now I have the option to play in the Senior flight or stay in Flight A.

Thanks Mark and crew and sorry if I dampened in any way the wonderful news about Air Canada sponsorship!

Sorry but from where I sit it looks like they aren't serious about the senior flights .....
