  • Full disclosure when selling a club

So I bought a club from a member on TGN asked many questions about the club and shaft. Playing length? If it's tipped? Who did the work? Etc. Got pics it looked good. When the club came in the mail (I live up north) club look in pretty good shape. 4 days later I decided to change the grip which the seller put on for me. Asked me what grip I want installed as the old one was b/o. To my surprise there is a 1" butt extension installed (graphite design tour AD MT)which was not told to me at any time. I was not happy when I found this in a very high end shaft.

I contacted the seller he said he would try to find me another. I asked for my money back and I would ship the club back. Or give me half the money back and I'll ship the shaft back. Since then he won't reply to any messages. Am I wron to think the butt extension should have been disclosed? Or at least man up and take care of the situation? Any ideas?

Tom, I would think that a butt extension is a significant modification to warrant being disclosed.

It is possible that the seller was not aware of it.
He changed the grip but more often than not the a new grip can be installed with the existing grip tape. As you know grip tape is just there to help the grip slide on the shaft and can be reactivated easily to install a new grip
or even simpler he could have used a compressor.

Hopefully, he comes through and accepts one of your requests for compromise.

He claims he didn't know. Just seems little suspicious then he said he would put any grip I wanted on it. And hasn't asked for a picture. I know if it was me I would want done proof if I really didn't know

Ya that's not good. Money back for the whole thing is the only fair thing though shipping and who pays is an issue.

If the shaft is at an acceptable playing length without the extension, then why not just remove it. If the shaft ends up too short for your needs without the extension, then it needs to be rectified by the seller.

If I bought a club that had an extension added to the stock length, then it's a non issue.

Shaft would be 1 inch short of its removed. That's the issue.

I think not disclosing a 1" extension is a bit shady, I know I would want to know if one was installed.

The shaft isn't as described, period. Why should you be out of pocket to ship it back? If the seller doesn't make good, file a claim with Paypal, provided you used Paypal.

He didn't have paypal live and learn will never do that again. I've done 30+ transactions on here and never got burned liked this.

If he's ignoring messages, leave negative feedback and out the jerk. If I sold something and this happened, I'd happily refund back. It appears the all mighty $ is more important to this seller than his integrity.

Karma is a b!tch, they'll get their's one way or another.

I'll be honest I'm pretty shocked the way he is dealing with this in messaged him a few twice today for some sort of reply and nothing. I can see he read the messages and that he is on the site I'm trying to have some class and not drop his name but I'm getting frustrated

Leaving appropriate feedback for a negative experience is hardly low class. That's what it's for.

Exactly what Left behind said, the feedback system is in place for issues just like this. It outs the seller and protects the rest of the community from dealing with him, he'll never sell another thing on here again.
