Hi Guys. I recently moved to sunny Toronto from Australia and am here for 2 years. I love golf and live close to the Annex. I have been looking for ANYWHERE to hit balls nearby - even in a net (I am looking at purchasing a Skytrak or Flightscope to make this more useful). I was wondering whether anyone knows of anywhere?? Thanks!

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Kind of.
There's a new range at 2255 Keele St; that's by no means downtown, but it's semi-close to the Annex. The other option that's open year round is the docks. They have mostly round golf ball-like things you can hit, but it's not the best option. In the bag:
R15 12° PXV 6.0
SLDR 15° ATX Blue S
Adams Pro 18° ATX, Idea Pro A12 20° NV S
Titleist AP2 4-PW Project X 6.0
Vokey SM5 54, 58
Scotty Cameron Newport 2

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
There are two downtown options for hitting balls.
There's The Docks which I think is overpriced for crappy worn out balls but it is open year-round and outdoors (heated in winter) but check their times before going. Heck, are those even golf balls?
The second option is at the UofT Varsity Center by Bloor & Bedford. It's kinda pricey if you're not a UofT student/alumni at $30/hr. It's open over the winter when they put the bubble up. I used to try and go once every couple of weeks during lunch but haven't been in a few seasons. It's odd hours ie walk-in guests are Mon & Wed 7-1pm and Fri 7-2:30pm. Looks like the rates have gone up to $39/hr now but you can get a 5x 1hr pack for $160.Last edited by Carlton; Oct 21, 2016, 09:18 AM.

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
There used to be a few virtual golf establishments in downtown years ago. Quick look on google maps shows that they're now permanently closed. Tough business. In the SM C-130 cart bag:

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
I go to The Docks on Cherry St. to hit a couple of buckets. They have recently replaced a lot of their balls so they are nice and shiny new for now. It is expensive on weekends but after work on a weekday and beach volleyball going on in the background in the summer the view is pretty nice! Also the Toronto skyline is very nice. Watched quite a few sunsets from the upper deck driving range level.
I also recall there being a golf simulator at the Real Sports Bar but I haven't been there in a long while to know if it is still there or not.WITB - Shredder stand bag in "Buzz Saw Red"

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
Heh. Never tried to just show up with my bag but I'm sure they wouldn't turn me down if it was free.
I wish Lakeshore Links was still open, especially now that I bitten by the bug and have my own golf gear. I went there for a work event several years ago to celebrate a successful project completion. I had my first semi-private golf lesson there and the guy had a Scottish accent! I was hitting my iron shots straight within a few swing with that guy. Albeit he was working with a blank slate without bad habits.WITB - Shredder stand bag in "Buzz Saw Red"

Humm, wonder what you get for a season pass? I'll have to call and find out.
Not my pic but...

Re: Anywhere to hit balls downtown Toronto???
That set up looks good. You may be surprised re use of a launch monitor. I find them useful and many now have inbuilt training programs (even the cheapest SC200) so you can get more out of a range session. I confess I am a bit of golf nerd tho so like the numbers etc the higher end ones generate.
Thanks again for the input. Going to try the Docks one out this morning
