Hey nuts. I just booked my Myrtle Beach trip for the spring and part of the package we are playing has Pawleys Plantation. I have never played this course before so looking for some insight as to those of you who have. What's the layout like, water, short, long?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haven't played it in years but it and Tidewater ( before any houses) are my favorite two courses.

Pawleys is beautiful and an all around great course IMO. You should enjoy it

Fun course. If the wind's up 13 & 17 are a couple of interesting par 3's.

IMHO, the top MB courses are:

South - Caledonia, True Blue, Pawleys P., Heritage
          North - Tidewater, Dunes

Very fun course, the par 3 over the marsh I just didn't like how narrow the tee box was, felt like I was going to fall off but some really cool holes.

PAWLEYS - Played the short par 3 13th in the fog and couldn't see the green. Into the prevailing wind, airmailed everything and made double. Came around for the 17th (now downwind) and hit it stiff from 201yds with a 6 iron. Still one of the best shots I've ever hit!

Great layout - only questionable aspect is conditioning.

I get sad whenever I think about what Wild Wing used to be. They lost three fantastic courses and have built nothing on the land. Avocet remains one of my favourites there.

A few others I find very good that have not been mentioned:
                      Long Bay Club
                      Glen Dornoch
                      Tigers Eye
                      Shaftesbury Glen
Keeping Score: Golf Courses 1710, Me 1

I love Pawleys, played there last year in February and Trump was there that day, total gong show with people and security.

I usually play there when we go down once a year.

Thanks for some of the replies guys. What am I expecting when I play the course though. Lots of water or more tree lined? Open or tight fairways?

Other courses of our package are Grand Dunes, TPC Myrtle beach, Kings North, Willbrook plantation and River Club as well as picking up a 7th round while we're down there.

Trees, water, marshes and Bermuda. Check Google earth and the course website to get a good idea of the layout.

                            Nice lineup.
