  • Via Rail pricing

Last week, I went on a road trip with my son to Ottawa. He had a trade show to attend and I had a chance to visit my daughter and have a skate on the canal. Then my son had another trade show in Kingston the next day, on a Friday, and he dropped me off at the train station in Kingston. It was all last minute and I bought a train ticket from Kingston to London for $168 + HST. Yikes, and that was for a Senior over 60 and in Economy class!!!!!
I know Via has different pricing for when you buy your ticket. I looked at the cost of the same ticket on the same train, same time, same day for a month from now and that ticket is only $90 + HST. What is up with that. That price, I don't mind. I love taking the train, but for $168, never again.

Same as airline pricing. No surprise.

Hannah takes a train from Kingston ( Queens ) to Toronto, mind you a student but even an adult depending the time you go it's anywhere from $40 - $90 , I am not surprised at $168 + to London, it all depends on the time and how busy the train is, had a friend take it back , my age and he got a ticket for $26 one way to Toronto from Kingston, it was middle of the day, the same ticket 5 hrs later was $95

          Re: Via Rail pricing

VIA has a special if you buy tickets on Tuesday as well. If you purchase the ticket on any Tuesday, but the travel does not have to be on Tuesday it can be any day of the week.

VIA also has high and low travel times with different pricing which includes different days of the week not just the actual hours of travel
