  • Vokey 54 degree & 56 degree (5 yard difference)

I hit my 58 degree wedge 74 yards and my 54 degree wedge 90 yards (both which are fine...) but I hit by 56 degree wedge 85 yards. Why is there a 11 yard difference in 2degrees but then only a 5 yard difference for the next 2 degrees?

Could be a number of issues, including the numbers on the clubs not matching the actual loft.

I assume yes to all the following: all the same length, 56 has more bounce that the others, shafts are all the same, swing weight is pretty much similar.

You might be putting a little forward shaft lean on impact to compensate for the increased bounce in the 56 to have the same contact type/feeling as your 58 and 54. If you're a "picker" that would make sense since you would be trying to avoid skulling the ball and in turn decreasing your loft.

If that's not at all the case, go check your lofts to be sure.

All wedges are 8 degrees bounce. 54 degree has a S400 shaft and the other wedges 56 and 58 have S300.

I would get the lofts checked.

most players dont have the Clubhead spead or technique to hit a 58+* wedge full swing properly...and based on your distances neither do you.

            Its ok nor do I.

As the loft increases it becomes more of a glancing blow and youre losing a lot more smash factor then you normall would.

for you that happens around the 58* mark it looks like.

            just 1 possible scenario.

I know myself If i take a full swing with my 58 (bent to 59) the yardage varies tons.

It can go literally like 55yards or upto 90y.

These distances are for my minimum power swing (all body rotation no arms power). Keeps my swing most consistent for distance control under 100 yards.

                exactly.

all the more likely its a glancing type blow on your 58...

i actually hit my 58 further the majority of the time when i put on a half swing.

simply because when i put on a full swing i just increase spin and dynamic loft.

You could also try to go to someone that can track club head data (e.g. GCQuad / GC2+HMT). I think that could be useful for you to see if it is loft related or something in your swing that is causing the problems.
