  • How to read impact tape?

    So I have a question:

    For a RH golfer...

If impact is on the heel that means the club should be flatter, or is too upright?

If impact is on the toe that means the club should be upright, or is too flat?

Is this correct in general terms?

If the tape is worn on the heel it is to flat, on the toe to upright.

I wouldn't say that, but it is kind of an opposite thing. Heel is to flat, so need to be bumped upright. Tape is wearing toward the toe, club is to upright, needs to be bumped flat.

Impact tape or lie tape (aka sole tape)?

Impact tape suggests you taped the face. Lie tape or sole tape goes on the sole.

The former shows where you're hitting it on the face, the latter where you're soling out and indicates potential lie adjustments.

If you're checking for lie, you are correct. Heel hits are too upright (need to go flatter), toe hits are too flat (need to go upright).

              Ben has it zactly correct.....

taping the sole and taping the face and looking at the pattern/results are independent processes ( even though length and lie have a very important interdependent relationship..............)

a proper fitting TLT will be the best method to ensure that your length and lie relationships are fit perfectly

                Heel hit=flatter
                Toe hit=upright
