  • Drivers with upright lie angles...

People who get their clubs custom fitted often bring in their irons to have the lofts and lies adjusted, shafts replaced...etc..etc...

But have you ever considered your new driver based on the lie angle? Some are quite flat..others very upright.

Classic example of upright was the original Launcher 460, and a favourite of mine. Some others (07' Burner TP,which is a fantastic driver) have flatter lie angles. I find when using these I try to flatten out my swing plane a bit...whether its better or worse..thats a different story.

However, I do find it most comfortable to take a 'free wheeled' swing with the more upright lie angles, as my swing is more upright...makes sense.

Which other drivers out there have more upright lie angles that I could toss into the forever search for the 'Holy Grail'. May just go and buy up a few Launcher 460's, have them refurbished black, and stick in some nice shafts.

09 burner was upright. very much so. i owned it..it wanted to promote a draw due to that...funny enough my current driver is the 07 burner tp you mentioned ..and i have a flatter swing..maybe that is why i liked both..but prefer the 07 tp.

Hmmm, I'm seeing a trend of drivers that I hit well tending to be upright. (L4V, Launcher 460, 07 Burner TP, 09 Burner)

This could also be why i've never got along with older Callaway drivers, which tend to be flatter. Who am I kidding though, probably has more to do with my questionable swing than anything.

Re: Drivers with upright lie angles...

I certainly fit drivers to their lie angle. There can be over 5 degrees of difference between companies.
Upright can help with creating a draw, but the sweetspot is harder to hit due to the increases angle (toe up)
I mainly fit upright as shorter drivers and flat as longer.
