I am looking into getting a new driver, since my R1 seems to have lost some pop. What am I looking at for cost on a custom fit driver? Assuming an off the rack is about $500, how much more for one to be fitted?

Depends where you go obviously, but $100 at places like Modern or TXG. I would personally recommend going with Ian Fraser at TXG. His knowledge, expertise, and overall demeanour (personable, service level, etc.) is 2nd to none in my experience.

Totally agree. And right now if you get a fitting with one of TXG's trainee's the fitting is free.

It all depends on the shaft you end up wanting. Some exotics can get pretty spendy. Wherever you go, be realistic and up front about a budget so you can focus on club/shaft combos you can pull the trigger on.

I'd say it depends on your budget and expectations.

MG and TXG are at the top of my list, was cut previously at MG but will be getting irons at TXG this spring. They produce the most options to try and configurations with shafts.

Golftown have their fitters, which sounds like hit or miss depending on the ship, but I've yet to use them.

Custom fit drivers don't have to cost more. The biggest factor is how good of a shaft do you want to invest in. With your budget we could easily fit you into a great club.

I would be glad to help - but I am out in Hampton, so about 45 min east. Appointments are required and please visit my site for additional info on what a True Length Technology fit driver will do for you.

Ian? As in Ian, formally of MG?

He's started a new fitting place?

How long has his new place been open?

I have no need to go there right now but it's good to see another golf business in the GTA.

TXG officially opened in November and are located within our facility. They have their own separate space, hitting area, and build shop. They've done an amazing job in how they set up their space. Stop by anytime and say hi!

                    Cheers,

                      be honest with yourself.
Weirfan threw up an interesting chart in another thread. Unless your swing is well over a hundred mph, the gain from a exotic shaft fitting isn't worth 2 bills.

Thats where the fitting comes in, I'd think they would give me an accurate SS.

I am sure my SS is down a couple from a few years ago, but I am more concerned with keeping it in the middle over an extra few yards at this point.

These are from 2013, so if i was in the 108-115 range I would be ecstatic!

Your smash factor seems to be a bit low. Not sure what that means WRT a fitting but just and observation.

Yeah, i noticed that too. And combined with the lack of ball speed on the second shot, despite of higher club speed, may indicate off center hits, which are "punished" more with R series TM drivers .

That's something I worked on over the last few years. I need to get onto a Flight Scope or Trackman again to see where I am sitting.
