President-elect Trump’s first press conference was strange, abusive, occasionally misleading, says Tim Stanley. But many Americans, distrustful of journalists, will think that’s just fine.
"Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened "
The left-leaning Globe & Mail has a rather dire editorial this morning.
"And so once again, rumours from Russia– whether real or fanciful, products of a hack, a leak, fertile imagination or calculated disinformation – are powering American political discourse. It’s further pushing Americans into two violently estranged tribes, incapable of believing anything the other says. It’s undermining belief in democracy, objective reporting, and even objective truth itself.
What’s left is power: Who has it, and who doesn’t. Unless you reside in the Kremlin, this is not a positive development."

Other than the business/investing sections, I find little value in the editorial content of the G&M. They still employ Margaret Wente, which speaks volumes for their integrity.

I think their editorials are better than most. I find them to be the most objective, not tied to a single political platform.
Moving on from that, here's an article on Trump's Secretary of State.
The little bit of his confirmation hearing impressed me - he doesn't need this job, and he seems quite capable of pushing back at Trump when required.
All in all, there is much more to like about him than to dislike.
A colleague of mine is now telling me that there are reports about Trump being involved in 'adult-themed' films with kinky story lines.
Has anyone else heard about this?
I'm not convinced that the news is true, but it's certainly creating some funny jokes.
Interestingly, his toughest grilling came from fellow Republican, Marco Rubio.
I watched some of that, and I felt like Tillerson was ready to interrupt and ask "do you actually have a question here?". I don't think he suffers fools gladly. Rubio was basking in the spotlight.
Having run a large public corp, I'm sure he's quite used to putting some thought and care into what he says.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.
Unfortunately, Trump's experience in the world of business doesn't appear to have schooled him as well.
The key is that Trumpco is essentially the Trump family and paid sycophants, whereas Exxon has shareholders, a board, etc. to work with and to answer to.
He's also President of the Boy Scouts of America, FWIW. Shows a little community involvement....
Here's something for Trump to think about:
The Center for Automotive Research says tariff on car imports (i.e. killing NAFTA) would hurt U.S. automakers and consumers, and cost 30,000 US jobs.

I think he had a very brief cameo in an 80's porn flick. I recall this being talked about during the leadup to the election after the 'grab her by the p**y' comments came out.
Anyone in an Embassy capacity is automatically flagged as a "spy" by the other side and their movement is watched 24/7.
It turns out Mr. Steele was not a field agent but a handler. He managed a Drop Box for disaffected Russians and turned agents during his tenure with the British embassy.
Hence why he left town. Some of those turned agents might still be valuable to the British.
