Yes, it appears that the setup caters to people that play golf as a career, hence you play against competitive pros.

More like its easier for the club to let outsiders on the course on a week day when business is slow rather then take away a precious weekend date and have the membership bytch and complain to no end

            I totally agree with you.
Weekends is where courses make their money
They don't maintain the course as well and charge more
And, a lot of the guys who do play there teach at clubs and the weekends is where they make the money.

              Re: Great Lakes Tour 2012

There is a golf channel AM tour local in Toronto. I did it two summers ago and had a blast!

The golf Channel runs it using local people.
Go to gcam.com and click "local" tab and look for Toronto.
I can not compare it to those tours you mentioned as I am from US but it was fun.

GLT is a great experience and a great measuring tool. You'll find out what parts of your game need work, that's for sure. If you do start stuggling, just don't start doing stupid things are taking a ridiculously long time. Play, but don't yourself too seriously or not seriously enough. There's nothing wrong with a guy playing bad, but its completely unacceptable to act like an idiot out there and inconvenience the guys in your group and groups behind you...

Well.....first tournament was the shoot out. I managed a 78 with horrible iron play. However, I enjoyed the atmosphere of competition and can't wait until the next one. Looking forward to practicing on my wedge play to try and lower my score!

                          Good job
I am glad I didn't sign up for that one.
Heard the day was cold and windy and I don't really like that course either lol.

Will you be at Grey Silo on Tuesday?

Yes, I have played there two years ago.
                              It's a nice course actually.
Last time I played it, it was cold and wet.
I won't have the chance to get there on the weekend but I remember the course.

I'll be happy with a 76 or less since I have only golfed once this year and hit six buckets of balls lol

I know GTA AM Tour has differnt 'flights" depending on your cap.. Is the Great Lakes Tour literally for scratch golfers and they dont have 'flights'? I used to race motorcross competively and was going to give one of these tours a try because I miss competing but my golf game was never good enough. After reading all these posts I'm having second thoughts with my 12 handicap

One thing I will say about competing that I learned from my racing days.. One of the number one rules in racing is to not worry about where the guy is behind you when your out front.. "Ride your own race" we called it..The same applies in golf. When I'm playing a match and it's serious, I don't even look and see how the other guys I'm up against hit it.. I just worry about my own game and I think this really applies in any competition (applies less for match play maybe).
