Heading to Peterbrough Area for the long weekend. Hoping to play 2-3 times. Haven't played there in ~9 years. Where should I go - I'm north - east of Peterborough, so I'm ruling out Lindsay / Oliver's Nest for this weekend. I think this is my short list... advice?
Baxter Creek Kawartha Quarry Golf Black Diamond Probably in that order of preference too. Thanks! |

I would bet you'll get people telling you to play Kawartha for all your rounds. Don't rule out Peterborough G&CC - have heard good things (private - not sure about public play?).

I'd put Bellemere Winds on that list too. Especially ahead of Black Diamond.

Just checked out the website for Bellmere Winds. Looks very nice. Tough track according to the scorecard. I'll add it to the short list for the weekend.

You lose all credibility by putting Black Diamond at #2.

I got slammed here last year when I said I didn't like it. I would recommend playing it but I wouldn't discount the others that were recommended except Black Diamond - I wouldn't waste your money. |

Black Diamond has a fantastic front 9, and enough "normal" holes on the back to keep me coming back, I hear THAT Tree on the back 9 is gone
...it's also a lot CLOSER to me (driving) |

I quite enjoy black diamond, mainly because it has the feel of two different courses, which I guess is not some people's cup of tea. but is is always in great shape.
Quarry is a fun course as well, only place I've ever seen black sand. If your north east of peterborough maybe give six foot bay resort a shot. I think it's on golf now too. |

Played Six Foot Bay before. It was a solid track. I'm looking forward to Baxter Creek and to check out Quarry Golf. I'm happy that Bellmere is close enough. Now if I can just find my way onto Wildfire...

Played Black Diamond on Sunday, Course is a lot of fun to play in my opinion, I would agree that a few holes are an acquired taste. A few of the greens on the back were a bit shaggy. I like it because there are a few tee shots that really make you man up on the back nine ( 10, 11, 12 and 13) and there are a few holes where you really have to use your head and play smart. But the thing I love best about it was on golf now it was 27 bucks with a cart and I was finished in 2hrs and 45 minutes.

Kawartha is solid, private has public play.
Peterborough is private, so you can only go if with a member. Quarry has a solid front 9, the back can be soft if its. not windy. Pinecrest is a decent course too, decent length and reasonable pricing.
