Re: 905S reshaft.. Can't be done?!?!

This is what Titleist has to say on the subject.

CRITICAL WARRANTY INFORMATION Titleist Pro Titanium 905
    1. Titleist 905 drivers feature an innovative, CNC milled aluminum hosel tube for optimum weight distribution.
    2. The use of conventional reshaft methods will damage or compromise the structural integrity of the hosel tube.
    3. In order to maintain the Titleist factory warranty, all reshaft or repair work must be done by the Titleist repair department.
    4. Please call Titleist at 1-800-742-7609 or visit titleist.com/reshaft for more information.

    Titleist Repair/Reshaft Policy
Consistent with our long standing policy, the only way to maintain the factory warranty on a Titleist golf club is to have any repair or reshaft work done by Titleist. Any work done on any club outside of Titleist will void the factory warranty.

905 Reshaft and Return Procedures (through the Titleist Repair Dept)
There are three ways to return 905 drivers to Titleist for reshaft work. All returns must have an RA# or they will not be accepted.

    1. Return the product through an authorized Titleist golf professional or golf retailer.
    2. Call Titleist directly at 1-800-742-7609.
    3. Email Titleist directly at DriverReshaft@acushnetgolf.com

Yes, I have read this also. I read the sticker on the club. But, thanks for the advice.

Remember when the Big Berthas came out? They were suppose to be unreshaftable also.. I am certain it is just a ploy to make Titty more money.

Besides, I did not use "conventional" methods....

Do the 904's fall under this same category?

I have one that I would like to get reshafted.

Nice work provided all is still sound. How'd you pull it without breaking down the epoxy on the aluminum hosel? I'm told that they use two different types of epoxy and the one on the hosel takes alot more heat to break down. I didn't want to chance it...

Re: 905S reshaft.. Can't be done?!?!

The 904's do not have this problem. You can reshaft those like any other bore-through Titty. However, if you would like it reshafted, I can do it, no problem.

I used a butane torch on the hosel for a short time, then moved to the toe for about 30 seconds. Then I moved back to the hosel. and so on, and so on...Never hit the bottom of the club.

The aluminum shim only goes up about 1.5 inches or so. I stayed away from this with the torch, and everything was alright.

This is the way Golfsmith suggested to reshaft. The way they describe it cannot be bad..

The epoxy actuall broke down REALLY easily. The new shaft is setting right now, so we will find out soon if it is all good... LOL I am certain it will be fine, however, because the sole saw absolutely no direct heat.

I had my 905T reshafted not that long after they came out and had a hell of a time finding a club maker that would touch it. I found one here in Ottawa who had already done a few and he told me that it's all BS and he has no problems reshafting these clubs. The only thing he does is he replaces the aluminum sleeve, you can buy replacements, apparently the sleeve has a history of warping. I don't think this is a job for the hobby clubmaker without a lot of experience but it can be done without any ill affects.

I went on the hunch is was BS, also. Same as the old Big Bertha's...

I could understand a CNC milled piece of aluminum warping under a 1300* butane torch, if it was on there too long.

I have sent emails to Golfsmith and Golfworks to see if a replacement is being made as of now. Golfsmith has said nothing as of yet, and I have not recieved a reply from Golfworks.

I haven't seen anyone selling replacement sleeves, at least from my regular sources of components. This was one of the reasons I did not jump on the 905 train when they came out seeing as I like to tinker with different shafts to find one that works with the head for my swing.
