    Congrats!

Now that you have done it, more should follow more easily.

Some of my best rounds were ones where I had a slow start.

Congrats ! -> you now know you have it in you to do it again

After the first time I broke 80, the next one came a lot sooner after that, and now more frequently these days.

For me: course management was key.
No stupid shots, no hero shots to try and save par.
A single bogey is vastly better than turning that single into a double or triple.
Keeping the driver in the bag unless the Par 4 hole is over 400 yards is also the key for me.
Even on most Par 5's I will now often hit a hybrid off the tee.
And not being a lazy green reader. Take a good walk / look around the entire hole.

      Keep those < 80 rounds a comin' !

Congratulations. Having done it once, you'll find it a bit easier to do it again.
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Thanks guys, now that I have crossed that bridge I hope it becomes more frequent. Played 36 yesterday (hoot and toot at osprey with crazyfast) shot 86 on hoot with a bogey, triple, double start and 81 on toot, had a chance at breaking again. Hcp is now single digits, its scaring me, I am not that good (maybe that's part of my problem-no belief).

I have been so close a number of times, I was starting to think I was not going to get there.
Today at Meadowbrook, from the golds, about 6550 yards. Started awful with par, double, par, double, was thinking just another mid 80's round coming after an awful 90 yesterday, and one of the guys in the group (shootamacgavin) said you are hitting the ball excellent today, he must have seen something I didn't. Then I finished front nine at 6 over thanks to some awful putting.
Then on #10 I lipped out a birdie putt of 20ft. Then birdied 11 and 12 and went 1 over on the back for an Awesome 78. It felt great.
Hopefully it won't take another 500 rounds to do it again.
Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! The way you were hitting it a few weeks back you were close. You gotta give me strokes now!!!

Very good point once you do it you know you can. I would say that most single digit players would say that was a big threshold to get past but once they did they knew they could.

Playing a lot of golf with L8NVR I can say he makes enough pars to be a consistent <80 player. Just have to convert those double and triples to bogeys and you're there day in and day out.

IMO.....playing a lot with you, get on the putting green more and spend a bit more practice time with that part of your game. Start keeping track of your putts per round and have a goal of less than 33. If you can do that you will be well on your way to being a CONSISTENT under 80 player. You hit it off the tee great now and your iron and hybrid game are good enough. Putting, chipping, and wedge play is what gets scores in the 70's.

I am sure those extra strokes you cut off that round went on to my score card instead

Great job! There are a lot of golfers who play a long time and never get into the 70's. I took up the game 4 years ago at 33 and have been in the 70's a few times in Alberta but I've yet to do it in 2 seasons in Ontario. I'm gettig close but it is a very tough thing to do for some of us.
