BLOWHARD NATION
© Stephen Fearing 2016 (Wells BC.)

I don’t want to live in a blowhard nation
With the king in a tinsely crown
When the whole thing wobbles
And the wheels come off
Well you know what’s gonna go down
It’s the same sad story
‘Bout the power and the glory
And the big shots living uptown
It’s the old rat race
So get ready for the chase
‘Cause the fat cats are gaining ground

I got up this morning
And I grabbed me a paper
To read up on the low lowdown
The front-page feature
Was a weird looking creature
With a rug and a jowly frown

Some of my sinister neighbours
Are rattling the sabers
And the circus is coming to town
It’s like a bad tattoo
And there’s nothing you can do
I could sure use a stiff drink now

Well they all line up
For Christ almighty
But there ain’t no spine in the words
When the talk the resurrection
They’re thinking the election
It’s the saddest thing I ever heard
And the whole debate
Has a sickening weight
Like a steer when the hammer comes down
When you see the cross
Well you better get lost
‘Cause they’re gonna burn something down

I don’t want to live in a blowhard nation
With the king in a tinsely crown
When the whole thing wobbles
And the wheels come off
Well you know what’s gonna go down
It’s the same sad story
‘Bout the power and the glory
And the big shots living uptown
It’s the old rat race
So get ready for the chase
‘Cause the fat cats are gaining ground

See the breadlines growing
And the headlines crowing
It’s as bad as it’s ever been
It’s all talk talk talking
While the whole town’s walking
Down the boulevard of broken dreams
And easy money
Is as sweet as honey
To a hick hanging off of a plough
But make no mistake
When they’re showing you the cake
They’ll never let you eat it now

I don’t want to live in a blowhard nation
With the king in a tinsely crown
When the whole thing wobbles
And the wheels come off
Well you know what’s gonna go down
It’s the same sad story
‘Bout the power and the glory
And the big shots living uptown
It’s the old rat race
So get ready for the chase
‘Cause the fat cats are gaining ground

Make no mistake
When they’re showing you the cake
They’ll never let you eat it now
Thanks for sharing.

Trump’s Tweets: Good Politics, Poor Economics

An article by Bill George, who has an impressive resume:

Bill George is senior fellow at Harvard Business School....
Mr. George is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic.... Earlier in his career, he was a senior executive with Honeywell and Litton Industries and served in the U.S. Department of Defense.

Mr. George currently serves as a director of Goldman Sachs and The Mayo Clinic. He has served recently on the boards of ExxonMobil, Novartis, Target Corporation and Minnesota’s Destination Medical Center Corporation. He is currently a trustee of World Economic Forum USA, and has served as board chair for Allina Health System, Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, United Way of the Greater Twin Cities, and Advamed.

In April 2014 the Franklin Institute awarded him the Bower Award for Business Leadership. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2012. He has been named one of "Top 25 Business Leaders of the Past 25 Years" by PBS; "Executive of the Year-2001" by the Academy of Management; and "Director of the Year-2001-02" by the National Association of Corporate Directors.

The reason for posting an excerpt from his resume is to show how he has succeeded in working in a variety of large and complex business, healthcare, and educational environments. I contrast this to the president-elect who has so far only really managed to work with himself, his offspring, and his father.

Could you imagine interviewing a late-20s Rump? I'm guessing he would have come across as just a younger version of the POS he is now.

patience, patience.
We'll know by April, and while this is too long for many,a 90 day warranty on his charm and personality works for me.
