  • Am I hitting the sweet spot?

I'm likely your average bogey golfer on here. My biggest strength is my length but I'm wondering if I should be hitting it even longer. Most of my shots, even the ones that I think I've git well, are not center faced. Impact is always towards the toe. I can't remember the last time I've looked at the face and missed hosel side of center. I use standard lie irons and my ball flight is relatively straight.

Get impact tape or equivalent. I did and quickly realize where I was hitting. The best spot to hit isn't usually dead center. I believe it's about 1/4 ball above the center and toe side.

Now if I can get even within a ball of center. ....

It certainly can be a club length issue or as simple as standing closer to the ball. It's nit clear if you are talking about your driver or irons but being properly fit for both is key to getting everything out of these clubs.

If you are not standing athletic then you are addressing the ball from a weak stance and compensating somehow.

Please let me know if I can help

I'd suggest a lesson first. Figure out if you are set-up properly then go from there.

              I have the opposite problem

I hit everything towards the heel, and I'm having problems fixing it

My longer clubs suffer from a sizeable slice; My irons sometimes suffer from hitting before the ball

              Any thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback guys. It happens with both my irons and woods. I've also taken a few lessons where the instructor wanted me to stand a little further away from the ball but I still hit it a towards the toe. Lie board at GT indicates I'm ok with a standard lie. Even when things feel flushed I'll notice that impact is slightly to the toe.

could be lots of factors... club path, head movement, etc... Agree on a lesson to see what is up.
Great way to note impact area/sweet spot is foot powder on the club face per the previous posts. Easy to do.
                    good luck!

I'd wrap some lead tape around the hosel first and see if the extra weight will pull the toe further away from you.

Clubs that are too long will often be swung from out to in - which will cause a slice. It's hard to come from the inside as you are afraid of jamming it in the ground - also what you describe.

I do suggest a TLT fitting.

Please review my site and if I can help please make an appointment.

Lie boards can result in an incorrect diagnosis . Unless the low point on the sole is in line with the center of the face you are making an incorrect decision. I have a wedge in my shop that has the low point 5/8 of an inch towards the toe which indicates to bend it 2 1/2 degree up. This would turn it into a hook machine.

Try this: when aiming or lining up your club, don't center the ball on the face of the club. Have the ball in front of your club and half an inch from the center towards the toe, if that doesn't work line it up half an inch from the center towards the heel.

Get some impact tape or foot spray to see where the ball leaves a mark on the face.
