You're an immigrant to Canada, right?

No!

Yes, you are.

No, I'm not.

Yes, you are.

No. Born in Canada.

No, you weren't.

Okay, have it you're way. I was an immigrant to Canada.

....

You lied to us. You were born in Canada.

That's what I told you numerous times, but you didn't want that answer.

Too bad. So sad. You lied.

Seems it went beyond just a conversation and she signed something stating that she is an immigrant travelling without a proper visa which they'll call up every time she goes to the border from now on. I think I would have taken my vacations elsewhere until this stuff passes before signing something like that.

Her status was on her passport.
For example my Canadian passport says born in a city in Italy. So the agent knew the answer and the passport was verified in the system, the agent was simply berating her.

No doubt the agent was being a d**k. I still don't think it was a good idea for her to sign whatever she signed stating that she is an immigrant when she's not. Seems to me every time she gets to the border now she's going to show a passport that says one thing and they have a document in her file that says something else and that's not likely to make it easier for her to cross even after Trump moves on.

I was under the impression;
center = middle (center of the circle)
centre = gathering place (recreational centre)

I do not claim to be an authority on Canadian English but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.

Girl Guides of Canada aren't going to the US now.

Same as with the schools, they can't risk having some of the group stopped at the border.

Strictly speaking, it's always supposed to be "centre" in Canadian English, though you'll often see "center" in sports usage because people think "centrefielder" looks weird, and, when used as a verb, "centring" looks even weirder.

We just got back from a 10 day road trip down to Orlando. Zero issues at the border - went through US customs in under 1 min.

Toronto District School Board won't be going any more....

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toront...-u-s-1.4038045

These sorts of actions will start to have a real impact on the tourism economy. I wonder how that makes things great again?

Just look at the map of the U.S. where the counties are red/blue based on how they voted in 2016. Even a cursory glance at it would indicate that the 'red' counties are probably far less concerned with tourism than the 'blue' counties.

I was down for March Break and no problems at all. Good ol' Nexus card over and back and didn't spend more then 5 minutes in line. All the others line were rocking as well... just as quick as the Nexus line.

I wanted to stop by the Lakeland Florida gun show with 40,000 vendors but my wife was terrified of the idea. I thought it would be a neat glimpse into the American Spirit!

Anyway... The USA was the exact same as all the other times I've been there in my life. Take away the media machine and I assume nobody would know the difference from one President to the next.

Supposedly, trips by Canadians to the US are not down at all so far this year.

Everything is showing less tourist $$ this year in the USA.

He said indicators of interest in visiting the United States, including online searches for airline tickets and hotels, started dropping after the election. They dipped again after Mr. Trumpís inauguration and fell further after he signed an executive order on the travel ban.

He said the annual number of foreign visitors to the United States could fall by 6.3 million between 2016 and 2018.

Sounds like Trump's plan is working for his goals, less visitors less people to screen.

I still think that's more to do with the dollar than Trump.

Went to Honolulu for 8 nights, just came back this morning. Some United Airlines cheap deals via Chicago. No issues whatsoever with respect to immigration. Travelling with 2 kids possibly help.

From the CBC today:
"Refusals of Canadians at American land crossings dropped 8.5 per cent between October and the end of February compared with the same five-month period a year earlier, according to U.S. government statistics."

Totally agree, however I still go to buffalo because regardless of the dollar, the deals are too great to refuse.

you probably want to post the whole article as that quote is not telling the whole story.

The article is there for anyone to find. Its conclusion is "its complicated".

Rejections as a percentage of travelers is down.

Since we don't get a breakdown on why people are being rejected, nor a lot of other details, we don't really know if things have changed.

I just found it interesting that rejections have not changed much since the new administration has come to power.

Since this is only Canada/US travel, we have no idea how things are going over all. Could be a completely different story at the Mexican border.

It is still within the realm of possibility that crazy always happened at the border, we just didn't hear about it until recently.

Agreed. I went to Miami for a cruise a week ahead of your trip. I have Nexus, my g/f does not. We both flew through customs quickly. No problem at all. Same old USA for me. Can't wait to head to Myrtle in early May.

I have to agree about recent travel. I had no issues.

Other than CNN has turned into the Trump network.
