  • Scotty Cameron Restoration

So, my first putter ever is a Scotty Cameron Teryllium Santa Fe. Here's a picture of what it should look like:

    Here's what mine looks like:

So as you can see, this is a pretty good candidate for restoration. I want the original finish applied again and my initials stamped properly.

    Next step:

    www.ScottyCameron.com website.

So Here's what I'm doing with my putter:

    1) Teryllium Santa Fe

    -Restoration$175.00-Finish - Original FinishNo Charge-Stamping - TY (separated by periods)$30.00-Shaft - ReshaftNo Charge-Grip - Winn Red Baby T$22.00-Length Change - Shorten 1/2"No Charge-Lie Change - Make 2° UprightNo Charge-Headcover - Scotty Cameron Milled Nylon NOS-Red$47.00Sub-total$274.00

Next step, Pay for it. This is where you provide your Address, contact info, etc and of course your Credit Card Payment. BTW, for them to weld over, it's an additional $50. So right now, it stands at $324 before shipping the putter to them plus there would be a cost for them to ship back to me. The total cost was about $370USD. Well, you're probably asking, Can't you just buy the putter for that? Well, yes, but this particular putter has HUGE setimental value for me as it's my first Scotty Cameron and more importantly, my first putter ever.

Anyways, once the putter has been confirmed, they send you an email:

    Dear Ted,

We have received your submission request and look forward to receiving
your putter. Some unique models have come back to us through our
custom shop and restoration program so rest assured we will take
great care of your putter while in our possession. We will send you
another email once we receive your putter and again when we ship it
    back to you.

Thank you for your order and using Scotty Cameron custom shop and
    restoration services.

    the correct address for shipment.
    5. Please use a carrier with tracking capabilities and insure your
    putter for a sufficient amount.

    Your order number is:

been received by the Studio. Requested changes after this point are
subject to an additional $25.00 service charge and six additional
    business
    days lead time.

Thank you again for your order.

    Regards,
    Scotty

So, now it's time to send out the putter. The putter was submitted for restoration on Friday. The faster you send the putter to them, the faster you get it back. So I send my putter via Purolator Air with the packing slip as requested which they received today. Guess what? I got another email stating:

    Greetings Ted,

We have received your putter(s), matched it with your submission
request and will promptly start the customization/restoration process.
It is our goal to offer the highest standard of service and return your
putter to you in a timely manner. At our current demand, we are estimating
that turnaround time is roughly 40 days.

You will receive another email when we complete our modifications
and ship your putter back. This last email will contain a tracking
number so you can track your putter from the Studio to your door.

Don't forget, you can log into the Club Cameron Members at
http://www.scottycameron.com/ area to check the status of any
    customization or restoration order.

Thank you for your submission and your interest in Scotty Cameron
    Custom Shop and Restoration Services.

PLEASE do not contact the Studio regarding the status of your order until
after your quoted lead time has passed. Thank you.

    Regards,
    Scotty

So, after getting this email, I was pretty stoked so I visited the ScottCameron.com website to see if my putter is there. I'm not sure if this info is available for NON Club Cameron members. I think not. So a good reason to spend $93 plus $22 for UPS shipping if want the ability to check up on your putters (don't forget that you get the kit as well and the OPPORTUNITY to buy a Staff bag which basically doubles in value the instant you purchase it).

    Here's the screenshot:

So that brings us to the present. They say it'll be about 40 days for the restoration but I think it'll be a bit faster from some of the other putters my friends have submitted. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

The putter in its state is worthless. Add the $370USD plus my initials stamped on my first ever putter, PRICELESS.

        Wb,

Good on ya, I had my first Scotty refinished 2 years ago a 1997 Teryllium Newport, came back perfect - wonderful workmanship. Unfortunately for me the custom shop wasn't available then.

Post the new look once it comec back!

TY...Thanks for sharing and showing the process to those of us who might want to have their Cameron putters restored. Quite expensive overall but I understand the sentimental value. Now, you're not gonna want to use it when you get it!

            Re: Scotty Cameron Restoration

Thanks Nailer. I expect the same but not going to set my expectations too high. Don't want to set myself up for a dissapointment.

Rockwalls, Terylliums generally costs more to restore than say a platinum, oil can or gun blue. Its due to the inserts and the elastomer in the back. And NO, I will not be using this putter. It'll be going into a glass case in my office.

I'm actually pretty excited about this whole venture and please don't mention the cost anymore. Something I REALLY don't want to think about. LOL.

BTW, there's a reason I picked the Red Nylon NOS headcover. Have a look:

                  Re: Scotty Cameron Restoration

Uh-uh. No changes from before. When something good comes up, perhaps I'll get another. Not a lot of 33 inch Scottys out there besides the MilSpec and Newport SS and RedX (which I'm kinda/sorta interested in having)

                        Re: Scotty Cameron Restoration

Unfortunately you can't. Only if you send the putter back, will they sell you any of the items you see.

BTW, the prices that you see are if you select RESTORATION. If you don't restore your putter, the prices are slightly higher for the grip and headcover.

Dude, its $110 for the restoration + 22 for the grip + 47 for the headcover. Makes it about $179USD + cost of shipping back to you.
