Re: Future Sites of the RBC Open

They averaged less the 20k fans this year. Isn't space for trailers, tents, parking etc a bigger issue at some courses?

      I know. Me neither.....

How about Grand Niagara, I know, I know, clubhouse isn't big enough

Would be cool to see them play Eagle's Nest on televised coverage, just not sure how spectator friendly it would be on-course. Also, it's just not the kind of course I would imagine a Canadian Open being played on. Don't get me wrong, I love golfing there, but it just feels more natural to play the open on a traditional parkland course, especially if it stays in the schedule behind the British Open. I would say that Hamilton has been my favourite venue to see the open in recent years, great traditional layout, ideal for spectators.

Cannot see it at Wyndance - would be an absolute birdie fest as the fairways on virtually every hole are quite forgiving at their level on their drives if there was no wind. They would have to really narrow them and grow up the rough to be worthy of a National Championship.
I grant you that the greens could be a reasonable challenge, and if the wind was up then there is some defence.

Coppinwood is a much more technically demanding course for the pros - as previously mentioned, agree that it will be difficult lobbying given the total lack of hotel facilities
Would love to see it go to Scarboro but it's too short and cannot be lengthened plus lack of a decent range. I figure one of the mainstream GTA courses is likely

That makes sense. The members I know aren't that wild about the Open coming back too frequently. Brings St George back in the mix during that time period.

I also seem to recall that the deal with the RCGA/Clublink is done. They have fulfilled the Glen Abbey commitments.
I still think they will be back at Glen Abbey far too often.

I'm not really sold on the Open going to heavily fescued courses like Eagle's Nest. Golf Canada seems to like more traditional courses.

Beacon Hall is a good test but does not have a lot of room to handle

Would love to see the RBC Canadian Open come back to the west coast. Watched the tournament in 2011 when it was hosted at Shaughnessy Golf Club.

Maybe they could host it at Vancouver Golf Club, they recently hosted the LPGA's CN Women's Canadian Open and it turned out pretty well.

Their men only membership policy would prevent them from hosting a PGA Tour event. Similar to Butler National in Chicago in that they lost the Western Open due to the same policies.

I don't think it will be in the GTA in 2015, at least according to Bob Weekes.

I like when it's at the Abbey personally. Closest venue for me. Easy to get to. Grounds are spectator friendly etc. All selfish reasons of course.
