The Tinkerbell Effect spans multiple scientific disciplines, including economics, but perhaps its most dramatic demonstration is in psychology - where it literally makes people see things.
A curious common refrain from those watching the inauguration was that regardless of political affiliation they were proud to witness their nation's tradition of a "peaceful transition of power".
Outside of banana republics and dictatorships, isn't this the norm for the civilized world?
An odd thing to celebrate. Perhaps their record of such high gun death rates, along with rather a lot of assassinations skews their view.
I've never even considered this when reading or hearing about elections in other countries.
An example of the lack of understanding of history and world affairs among the American public at large.
Many Americans still believe that their nation leads the world in standard of living, social mobility and personal freedom despite extensive proof that this is no longer true.
My biggest concern with Trump is what he will do, in the name of politics, with trade. Currently trade between the US and Canada is pretty balanced. Trump can wreak havoc on our economy in the name of making America great.

I could be wrong, but a good trade relationship is predicated on mutual benefit. If the US intends to bully its former allies into a one way relationship, then the damage that will follow will touch not just those with whom they trade, but the US itself. It's unimaginable that other countries won't respond in kind. The colonial powers of the 18th century were well aware that good trade relations with First Nations ensured peace and made for good neighbours. Let's hope that Mr. Trump's advisers know that lesson.

New White House press secretary Sean Spicer lectured reporters on Saturday in an angry statement that represented his first remarks from the podium of the press briefing room.
"Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened "
Trump's press secretary called a press conference today to lecture the press for reporting (correctly) that the turnout at the inauguration was low.
It's going to be a long 4 years.
