so what if I told you that almost everything about Open and Closed as you know it was misleading, or wrong, and that just by knowing something that you would hit the ball better tomorrow?
We act based on what we know. Most know a way that requires some serious unnecessary back tracking

hmmmmm, I guess before it is rotated the head looks open to the target line but square to the shaft, and after rotated it looks square to the target line but closed to the shaft

Right. So if we want to make the golf swing as simple as possible, and we know that the face strikes the ball CLOSED or Twisted counter clock wise in relation to the shaft for a RH golfer, then why are we told to....

3:28- I think this explains it a bit more Shawn calls it an "Arc Line" to the face.
Club moves along the arc vs straight back and straight through?
This is the part of the swing I find amateurs have the toughest time with but it comes down to understand what is meant by Open versus Closed.
If we start simple - I think we can all agree that those 2 terms are relative terms and can relate to either the target line or club path but a Square face is one that is Perpendicular to the target line or path.
I also think that we can agree that the club must lean forward at impact to not only find the sweet spot but for maximum impact.
Take your impact position, with a forward leaning shaft and then re-orient your eyes to look straight down the shaft.
Where is the face relative to the shaft....
Nick, that sounds familiar.
BTW. I must say the golf school I took from you a couple of weeks ago was terrific. It was the most productive day I spent on golf.
Derek, the arc lies on the plane and at certain times they can be seen as the same.
Old school ideas revolved around this opening-to-closing idea as a power source yet the torque the best strikers put-on the shaft is not in this direction.
