    Re: orlando golf

At the end of Dec, played 2 warm up rounds at Hunters Creek and North Shore before heading down to Palm Beach for more golf. Its been 2 yrs since my last disastrous visit and now happy to report that HC's greens have recovered and are rolling very well. HC is a solid layout and was once a top 100 public course. Certainly, can't beat the $18 green fee with noon start. North Shore is another good layout with a mix of holes and good conditions. Had it among the best value courses in MCO until I found out after the round that some idiot stole the "shark fin" antenna cover from the roof of my rental car. Sorry, North Shore is now a dump!

Then played Lake Nona, Bella Collina, Disney Magnolia and Waldorf. Enjoyed three of the five.

Celebration is over rated and over priced.

My personal preference has always been International but the guys find it too penal compared to National. This year that is more true since they rebuilt all the International greens and the firmness of them is problematic given the mounded greens. Can't fly on and stay which is only way to get there on most. We play National once per week and the rest of our games at Highlands Reserve (home).

Played the CC when first opened and was not impressed at all. The greens were good but holes all looked the same and were very very wide with no character. Maybe with housing built up around, it now looks less like a bunch of tees and greens thrown in randomly. Personally, I will stick with National and International.

Eagles creek is really nice and as well as Southern dunes just outside of Haines city , I go down to winter haven every winter and try and play those two courses

Thanks everyone for your input. Unfortunately, CC is not an option for me....

                        Re: orlando golf

unfortunately its my last night here, and coming back to the cold. weather has been incredible! and so has the golf! here are the courses i've played, in order of preferance:

                        grand cypress n/s/e
                        grand cypress new course
                        lpga international hills course
                        orange county national panther lake
                        championsgate country club

golf has been expensive here in orlando, but deals can be found on golfnow. highly recommend the top 4 on the list.. championsgate cc was okay but at least the price was fair.

already looking forward to my next trip here!

El Campeon was a real fun track at Mission, but I didn't really enjoy the other course up there. And the drive from Orlando is a bit of a drag.

I have really enjoyed the Grand Cypress tracks. The "New Course" is a ton of fun with double Fairways and greens. On the other side I have only played the North/South and enjoyed them. There was some construction when I was last there but that was 2 years ago, and only impacted the routing of one or two holes.

Huge difference in value between the two, Mission seems like its pretty cheap by Orlando standards....
