A better start today with 2 birdies in the first 5 holes, now 1 shot off the leaders. EDIT: birdie on 7, tied for the lead. Bogie/Birdie on 12-13 and birdie on 17 for sole lead.
UPDATE:
Final 67 for clubhouse lead at -5 with afternoon wave just beginning.
The Team Competition is complete: Ontario 274 (-10) wins over Alberta 289 (+5), Quebec 290 (+6) and B.C. 297 (+13).
Afternoon Update:
Brooke Henderson leads after Day 2 at -5 (70-67). Augusta James and Liz Breed are tied for 2nd one stroke behind (both shot 67-71). Su-Hyun Oh (67-73), Megan Osland (68-73) and Betty Chen (71-70) are the other players who are under par after two days. The cut line is at +10.
Minjee has a dropped a bit after the British Open, Brooke's North and South Amateur results from last year just dropped off and Alison Lee won this year's North and South Amateur.
Brooke's Canadian Amateur win from last year drops off next, which means that she needs to win again or lose points (36 bonus points go to the winner, 18 for second place).
Minjee's US Junior and Brooke's Canadian Junior scores drop off soon, which will bump them both up. All of the top 3 will get a boost as well when their 2013 US Amateur scores drop off, meaning that their relative placings in this year's US Amateur will be key (The Mark McCormack Medal for top amateur gets handed out based on the rankings after the US Women's Amateur).
EDIT: It looks like Brooke has pulled out of the Canadian Junior Girls Championship and will be playing the PGA of Canada Women's Championship next week (the third event on the Canadian Women's Tour): http://www.pgaofcanada.com/Userfiles...ip%20Field.pdf
“It was a tough start yesterday being 3-over through eight holes but then I went 4-under the rest of the way which was really huge,” said Henderson, the defending champion. “I had a couple of moments yesterday that really saved my round and I think that really saved my tournament. Going into today I knew I had momentum and I just wanted to keep that going.”
“It was much tougher today, we were here bright and early and it was quite a bit colder from past days so the ball wasn’t quite flying as far,” Henderson continued. “The wind also really picked up especially in the middle of my round, I was hitting four clubs more than what I normally do.”

Day 4 of the Canadian Women's Amateur: After 4 holes Augusta James has increased her lead to 7 (-14) over Brooke (-7). Su-Hyun Oh is one back of Brooke at -6.
Kendal Martindale (-4) and Megan Osland (-3) are off to quick starts with 3 birdies each in the first 5/6 holes.
After 13, Brooke has dropped to third behind Su-Hyun Oh.
UPDATE: Augusta James finishes at -14 (67-71-63-69), followed by Su-Hyun Oh at -8 (67-73-67-69) and Brooke Henderson in 3rd at -7 (70-67-70-70). This could bump Augusta into the top 25-30 in the world rankings. It is possible this could drop Brooke into 3rd in the rankings.
In the next couple of weeks, the US Amateur and Canadian Junior scores will drop off. A little math to adjust for those to determine their standings going into the 2014 US Amateur:
Minjee: 18.4127 points per round x 63 rounds = 1160 points; subtract 52/4 for the 2013 US Amateur = 1108/59 = 18.78 points per round (1878 WAGR points)
Brooke: 17.2422 points per round x 45 rounds = 775.90 points; subtract 76.9/6 for Canadian Junior and US Amateur = 699/39 = 17.92 points per round (1792 WAGR points)
It will likely take a win, or at least making the semis, for Brooke to catch Minjee. Emma Talley received 176/8 points for winning the US Amateur last year (22 points per round). If Brooke wins this year (and gets similar points) it would bump her to (699+176)/47 = 18.61. Minjee could likely still stay ahead of her in points by making the semis (or possibly the quarters).
Due to the way the match play point system works, winning the qualifying rounds and losing the first round of match play might also do it for either of them (due to the 24 bonus points).
EDIT: It doesn't look like Minjee Lee is playing in the US Women's Amateur. Unless she is playing in something else the next couple of weeks, she will likely end up at 1878 WAGR points and will be hard to catch. Brooke will probably need to win both the qualifying rounds and the match play to do it.
I believe the US Amateur is the last event before they hand out the Mark McCormack medal. EDIT: note that today's PGA Women's Championship doesn't count for Brooke because it is only 2 rounds (only events with 3+ rounds count in the WAGR).
16 y/o Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls leads PGA Women's Championship of Canada with a course record 65 (-7) at FireRock GC in Komoka, Ontario. Included an ace on the 17th hole. Older sister Brittany tied for 4th with a score of 69 (-3)
Brooke's official scorecard courtesy of @PGAofCanada Twitter feed
Brooke is paired with Michelle Piyapattra and Avery George at 1:10pm from the first tee on Monday. Michelle won the first event of this year's Canadian Women's Tour in May in B.C. (and shot 75 today at the PGA of Canada Women's Championship).
Other Canadians in the field: Taylor Kim, Brittany Marchand, Alina Rogers, Anne-Catherine Tanguay, Krista Fenniak, Brianna Cooper, Elizabeth Tong, Augusta James
It doesn't look like world #1 Minjee Lee is in the field.
Golf Channel will have coverage of the match play rounds Wednesday to Sunday from 3-5pm each day.

Champion again with a 65-66 = 131 (Championship record). Wins by 5 and low amateur by 9 https://twitter.com/pgaofcanada/stat...959169/photo/1 That will make her the Jocelyn Bourassa Player of the Year on the Canadian Women's Tour.
Brooke Henderson becomes the youngest winner of the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada presented by Nike Golf after an unbelievable two days at FireRock Golf Club in Komoka, Ont.
The 16-year-old posted a two-day total of 13-under par, setting a new championship scoring record and adding her name to a list of champions that includes Lorie Kane, Cathy Sherk, Gail Graham, Nancy Harvey, Jessica Shepley and Alena Sharp.
“Coming into this week I saw all those great names on the trophy and I wanted to have my name alongside them,” the Team Canada member said. “It’s a great feeling to know I am able to compete against the best players in Canada and someday the best players in the world.”
Henderson’s 36-hole total of 131 (65-66) was five shots better than 2008 winner Hannah Jun of San Diego, Calif. Hamilton’s Alena Sharp, a three-time winner of the PGA Women’s Championship finished third at six under. Samantha Richdale of Kelowna B.C. and American amateur Simin Feng rounded out the top five.
The Smith Falls, Ont., native’s 36-holes at FireRock Golf Club featured 14 birdies and an eagle, with a stretch of five birdies in the row on the back-nine Thursday afternoon.
“I struggled a little bit on the front nine—I was hitting some great shots but the putts just weren’t dropping,” Henderson admitted about her front nine score of 2-under-par 34. “But that all changed starting on No. 10 with a birdie. I think I had five in a row coming down the stretch and it was awesome.”
EDIT: If they don't let her go to q-school this year, they should at least guarantee her free entry next year (this is the third year in a row she has qualified for stage 2 through the CWT).
EDIT: Just a reminder of her wins this year: Junior Orange Bowl, South Atlantic Amateur, Scott Robertson Memorial, Women's Porter Cup, Canadian Women's Tour Ontario, Ontario Women's Amateur, PGA of Canada Women's Championship. If the LPGA doesn't want her, maybe she should apply to the PGA Tour Canada....
Brooke will be playing a charity match for the St. John Ambulance - Leeds, Grenville & Lanark Caring for Our Community Capital Campaign on Wednesday, August 13th at the Brockville Country Club! She will join Johnny Williams (94 year young 5 time BCC Club Champion), David Dargie (Caring for our Community Campaign Coordinator) and Pat Markovich (winner of a draw to play in the match) on August 13th with an 11:30 AM tee time. The public is invited to come out and meet Brooke and wish her well before she plays in the Canadian Pacific Women's Open!
Pretty interesting that 2 of the top 3 Canadians on this leaderboard got their starts at Shelburne.
Brittany Marchand and Augusta James were both part of this junior program. The most recent Toronto Star amateur was won by Stefanie Tucker another one that got her start at Shelburne.
Great testament to the good work that Sam Young does.

+9 Mary Ann Hayward (76-74-72), Aurora, Ontario (won Ontario Amateur in 1983, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997)QUOTE]
Don't want to thread jack, but amazingly Mary Ann Hayward just won her fourth Ontario Senior Amateur title at age 54.
Question:
Was she related to John Hayward who was previously the Head Pro at Cardinal Golf Course and died suddenly last year.

Brooke is off to a slow start today with two bogeys on 11 and 12. Recovered a bit with a birdie on 14 to bring her back to +2 (T19). Another birdie on 16.
