Default Bigwin Island

Never been out to Bigwin and I'm sure many of you would say it should be on any golf nuts' playlist.

There's a 'special' going on that is after 1pm for $165+hst including dinner in the historic marine dinning room, is it all worth it?

Who's up for it on Sunday?

Manny, if you search you will notice I used to have events up there every yr and they charged us I believe approx $110 for the day, it didn't include supper though, the course was a nice track and I never stayed for supper , I'm sure you would enjoy the day, hopefully they give you some selections at supper to make it worth while, everyone needs to play the course at least once, I never found it to be a wow course except for number 18 but always enjoyed my day there.

Loved the course. We played it in the end of may. Twilight at 4pm for 100. Which was just enough time to get the round in. We did eat in the dinning room and the food was awesome. Not cheap but we did a preset menu. I think there's more then just the 18th in terms of scenery although but you can't deny how amazing that tee shot looks at dusk

we (Randy, Heather, Carlton & I) paid close to $200 to play it BEFORE Tom had outings there...we thought we'd never get a chance otherwise.

It's worth playing at least once.

Every bit as fun as Muskoka Bay.

#18 is great, but #6 is the Signature Hole that everyone loves!

... don't leave your food unattended on the cart!

The deer look so cute and cuddly but not so much when they steal your hot dog! I would've bought you another hotdog buddy.... After I got up from the grass from ROFL

Will never forget that day, was on the green putting my ball and the dam deer took my $12 hotdog right out of the cart and made off with it, I was mad enough I started to chase the deer like a idiot , I only had one bite and left it unattended, everyone just stood in amazement watching this dam deer scoop my dog out of the cart and made off with it, everyone had a good laugh afterwards, I was faking my amusement, haha

As I recall, the story had a Happy Ending....involving an Apple Fritter and/or a Baconator!!

The deer story may be urban legend, or not. There are however birds that hang out by the 11th tee and raid carts. Foxes have also been implicated in food crimes from carts. Playing partners should always be under suspicion.

@ $165, no way. At that price you are paying for it all, nothing is included.

Personally, it's not worth more than $100

It sounds like it's not much of a deal but this course has been on my coveted playlist for some time.

Note to self, I must watch for animals and humans potentially stealing my hotdog.

Wish I could play in the GTA am your event but I can't that day. I could make it out there another weekday in October if there are any other players interested in heading up there

I would go with you Manny but not for $165 plus tax, if they have a fall deal at $100 I would go but not @ almost $200, watch for that deer when you go, it's still properly got some tinfoil hanging from its mouth , it is a nice day, weather needs to be decent though as its useally 5-7* or more cooler than GTA

If you are planning a late season round, the course closes after the Thanksgiving Day weekend.

No $100 deals here. This one may just remain on the 'to play list' for next year!

Good luck to those playing in the GTA Am tour event, its the P J Dermody Insurance Classic!

I was really hoping to be able to play Paul Dermody's event. He has helped me over the years with my insurance needs and his advice has always been valuable and 110% very much appreciated.

just an update with the course. They've been going through some bunker renos which started last year and have started again this spring. Finally saw on Instagram that they'll be opening for the season late, with an opening day of June 15th...but only 9 holes will be open

They needed it bad...I snapped my pitching wedge out of a fairway bunker there last year in the GTA AM event on the first hole because underneath the sand where the ball was there was a rock about the size of a tennis ball, other bunkers weren't much better.
