  • Anyone brave the weather today?

Was supposed to play Osprey with a friend who bailed due to the forecast. I hemmed and hawed about heading out but didn't want to spend $100 there and feel obligated to play, checked golfnow on a whim and saw a $25 hotdeal at Caledon. I figured if it was too wet, it wasn't costing me much if I wanted to bail.

Pretty wet for the first few holes but I had the umbrella and push cart and it was warm so I didn't mind. The rain slowed to a mist right up to about the 17th and i even stripped off most of the rain gear. The course was wet but not soaked and the greens putted pretty well.

Glad I ignored the forecast and went out

It must have depended where you were. Port Perry got absolutely soaked for most of the day. Thankfully I'm playing tomorrow and not today.

Supposed to play a charity event today at Royal Ontario and my foursome bailed last night.
Not entirely unhappy as I dislike the golf course

Played Northumberland Links in Pugwash... sunny but 7* and gusts to 45mph.

I guess it was the authentic links experience.

Did you enjoy the course? Always one of my favourites, even when it was a 9 hole course.

This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Toughest 6600 yards I've played in a while. Course wasn't in great shape, but I loved it. Reminded me of Ireland. The stretch of 2-5 are stellar, and 4 was into the wind playing about 235.... I had to smash a 3 wood just to get to the front.

Nice track, tricky greens, tough as nails with the swirling wind.

              Good times.

The NS Amateur was played there a number of times. When the wind was blowing, it felt like a 7200 yards course. It's a shame that the conditions were not as good as they usually are. They've had a tough spring as well.

Ended up playing Ballantrae GC this afternoon, it was hot deal on GN for under $20 including cart and figured the rain won't be that bad. Showed up 1 hour early, checked in and finished in 2 hours. Rain was consistent but not drenching. Layered up properly and just enjoyed the round thinking this is normal for those in Scottish links.

I have never seen a hotdeal for that cheap at Ballantrae.

Played a four ball match that couldn't be rescheduled before deadline. Windy, wet and chilly, mtough conditions. Rain suit held up though. Wet feet but most everything else dry. Hope I don't have to do that again and weather improves. Probably felt better because we won the match...

Picking up on a previous thread. I was going to go to CarrickMcross today to practice on their short course....but this looks like pretty heavy rain right now.

Played RedCrest East on Wednesday and the place was incredibly wet. Some holes had major ponds of standing water that you needed to play around. Landing in the middle of some of those meant a lost ball, it was so far out of reach of any ball retriever. Did not even bother counting score after the first 9 things were so out of sort.

I can only imagine that conditions are only getting worse with this morning's downpour.

                              Anyone going out today?

Fortunately there are no rules limiting the number of golf balls you can carry during a match!
