  • FAKE R11

Hi all, I recently bought a taylormade r11 driver from kijiji.

I bought it from a post which introduced the price of $350 and

it was a used for several times.

When I took it home and tried to adjust the loft angle. Then a

bolt which tightening head and shaft suddenly broken...

I ordered extra bolt from ebay but now i feel this driver could be a fake

one. The seller told me that he picked up the driver from U.S.

Is there any way I can identify whether the driver is real or not?

I brought it to golftown in brampton and one guy said its real and

    another guy said its fake.

If anyone saw the fake r11 before can you reply below?????

I would call Taylor with the serial #.

I not seen a single fake one as of yet, and normally I would have seen a ton by now.

Taylor would be able to help you out in some way. Another reason why I am skeptical to buy anything on Kijiji or Craigs list.

      Always check the serial number

        Re: FAKE R11

when this stuff pops up about possible high end fakes I'm immediately reminded of the rear seat dummy sets sold in Japan in the late "80.
If I really wanted an R11 the last place I would scrounge is a public board.
Sorry ,don't mean to be harsh but why take a chance on something that's important to you?

Answers in there. So is it real or fake? If you broke a bolt, I'd imagine it to be a fake driver. Bolts don't just shear like that.

I have seen the thread/bolt break for the plate on the bottom of the R11, but not at the hosel.

Call Taylor Made customer service and see what they have to say.

Serial # does not mean anything. You can get fake Rolex with serial # and warranty certificates, etc. The best rule is to buy from reputable sources. Funny experience, I was in Shanghai a few years back. Someone tried to sell me a set of Nike Pro Combo. So I told the guy its guaranteed forged! He did not know what I was talking about.

Just curious, I always read about fake clubs and was wondering if you used it and how did it preform?

                    Re: FAKE R11

Does it have a TaylorMade hologram on the shaft?

My brother was in Shanghai recently on business and was in a local market, he called me and asked if I wanted a R11 for $100. He said the woman originally wanted $300 but he bargained down to $100. When he said it had the hologram and did not come with a a wrench or head cover it was a dead giving away for a fake.

Two weeks ago I went down to Michigan to visit my brother and we dropped by the GolfSmith Extreme warehouse. He looked at the real r11 and said it was obvious the one in the China market was a fake - the paint was much different.

I agree with the Serial Numbers - if you call TM in CA they will not be able to tell you anything about a serial number you give them to verify...

                      Re: FAKE R11

If someone is selling something dirt cheap, I can think of 3 possibilities:

                      1. Fake

                      2. Stolen from an owner

                      3. Stolen from the factory/retailer

If its a fake, then the performance is usually inconsistent. For example, a buddy of mine has a set of fake Nike slingshots. The lie and offset is different across the different irons. I mean you can learn to hit with them, but its not going to make you a better player.
