Assume a rough and simple calculation that for every MPH with an Iron your ball travels 2 yards and with a Driver 2.5 yards. If you hit your 7 iron 140 yards you're swinging at apprx 70mph.(70mph x 2yds = 140). Because driver swings are generally longer and faster, if you generously added 20mph to your driver swing, you'd be hitting your driver 225 yards. (90mph x 2.5yds = 225yds)
    ^^^ u nailed it, down to 5 yards (i'm at 220).
So the good news is i may squeeze 5 more yards, and the bad news is it's only 5 yards, lol
    Many thanks and cheers !

p.s. Just lucked out on a 12* SLDR in nice shape, so maybe with higher Launch and a bit lower Spin, maybe i can add 10 more yards

Excellent article however it does not always work like that.
Angle of attack was not mentioned and on occasion some people swing the driver and irons differently.

using a bit of algebra and the above distances we can approximate a guide for how far you could expect to hit the ball (assuming fairly consistent and solid contact) given your personal driver swing speed

              220 to 230
You will get 230 with a shorter shaft in a driver.

If a 95 lb LPGA tour player can drive 280 you can bet it's confidence and sweet spot as opposed to strength!

              Ps I am 155/245 7i/driver.

                  Re: 7i 140 yards - driver ???

That article was written in 2013, right when some club companies began jacking their iron lofts turning 7 irons into 6 or even 5 irons ans sticking driver length shafts into 3 woods. Rather than the iron number stamped on the sole, I'd be interested to know what the lofts on the irons are instead.

Having said that, it seems to be right in the wheelhouse for my iron distances when compared to my driver distance (258).

Oh been there done that.. last two years I had 3 driver heads, experimented with 4 shafts all spun the same ~4000rpm. Then I went for that fitting and the rest is history. Never again
