SPRING LAKES HOSTS A TIE BUSTING DAY AT THE HONSBERGER PHYSIO CLASSIC
Stouffville, ON (May 15, 2017) – This past sunny and beautiful Monday morning, The GTA AM Tour made it's first ever stop at Spring Lakes Golf Club, located just north of the city, in the lovely town of Stouffville. Spring Lakes Golf Club, Canada’s largest private golf facility and home to three Championship 18 hole golf courses. Unfolding over 400 acres and sculpted out of the natural Oak Ridges Moraine countryside, each course provides a uniquely challenging experience. A large measure of the challenge derives from the 45 lakes that border many of the fairways and greens of the 54 holes.
The Champ Flight hit the links at 8a.m. sharp. Former A Flighter Matt Ward would finish atop the field with a smooth swinging 77. Second and third would be decided with card matching as three players posted 79. After the math was complete, Robin Roopchan would take second and Mike Forbes would settle for third.
In the A Flight, new Tour player Victor Wei would come out on top by firing a sizzling 76 to lead the pack by four shots. Mike Reynolds and P.J. Corvese would both hand in a score of 80. Mike secured second and P.J. slid into third spot.
Frank O'Brien would once again find himself on the leaderboard this week. However, this time his excellent play would see him hoisting the B Flight winner's trophy. Next best would be Peter Cuthbert, who carded an 84 and Eldar Curovic was hot on his heels, posting 85 for third place.
C Flight was buzzing with excitement as three players would be tied for top spot recording matching 86's. John Baty, Rob Martel and Raymond Wong would have to pull the clubs from the car and head back out for a two hole playoff. However, darkness descended and John Baty and Rob Martel had a chip off on the 10th green. John was just a few inches closer and was declared the winner..! After card matching Rob Martel finished second and Raymond Wong claimed third spot.
Todd Stones would once again take top spot in the Seniors' Flight Gross competition, shooting 81 for his third victory in as many weeks, one stroke back was Robert Stodgell posting 82. Seniors' Net was won by Dave Reid, carding a Net 69, followed by David Johnson with a Net 71.
