First major of the season to start this coming Sunday

RICHMOND HILL (JUNE 10, 2010) – The GTAAT will host its first major of the season, this coming Sunday and Monday, at Osprey Valley GC: The TaylorMade Major. The tournament also marks a significant occasion for the tour, as the first weekend event in the GTAAT’s seven-year history. The Caledon area club will host all four flights, in a two-day tournament on two of its three 18 hole courses: The Heathlands and The Hoot. Championship and A Flight players will play the Hoot; the B-C Flights will compete on the Heathlands. Nearly 170 golfers will be taking part in the two-day tournament; with this being the first major of the season, many of the top players in each flight will be in competition.

I know some scores have been high, but that's pretty harsh for one day.

A pro once challenged me to pick a number ( agood number representative of my hdcp) and go out and shoot that number or better. It's tougher than you'd think.

            Try it.

Shouldn't you be out practicing for your upcoming 108 holes of golf?

                No excuses come Thursday now.

I have to do my tax return today.

My focus is on the Brantford Invitational on Tuesday....once that is out of the way I will start getting my rain gear together for Thursday.

No rain Thursday ya sheet starter.

Play well Tuesday, should be a good test at that track if you are playing 36.

                        I was thinking 79, 83.

I left my 79 out on the par 5 holes today. I played them in 4 over for an 83, good enough for 4th place alone. Three shots back.

                        Tommorrow: 79

A Major victory in grand fashion

Congratulations to B Flight Champion Bruce Cooke who blew the field away with a stellar closing round.

Bruce followed his 81 from Sunday with four birdies on his way to a 77 on Monday.

Second and third place were 8 and 11 shots back respectively.

                          ......................

Once again, the folks at the GTA Amateur Tour staged another outstanding event.

Four flights, playing two courses over two days.

                          A huge undertaking.

From a player's perspective, I would say things ran smooth, smooth, smooth.
A great two days of fun on the Heathlands and on the Hoot.

I was only 42 strokes out of 1st place in my flight.

Well - yesterday was just about the least amount of fun I've ever had on the golf course, so it's time for me to take a step back, and break from the competitive golf tournaments for a while.

Kudos to the GTAAT staff though, as this event was well run as always despite being played on 2 courses with a huge turnout as many new guys were trying to qualify for their cards.
