  • THE LADIES' GOLF CLUB OF TORONTO HOSTS THE GTA AM TOUR'S HONSBERGER PHYSIO CHALLENGE

Thornhill ON (July 27, 2015) - With the first half of the season in the books, competition is really heating up, as players aspire for great performances to improve their standing in the Myrtle Beach Order of Merit. This week, four players would be crowned winners of their respective Flights, in the fourteenth event of the Tour Season, The Honsberger Physio Challenge. The GTA AM Tour players would be fortunate to have the chance to play the gorgeous, historic and majestically designed Ladies' Golf Club of Toronto. "Ladies'", as it is known, is a fabulous, private golf club; the only club in North America owned and operated by women, for women. Men, of course, are always welcome at the Club and play through a guest card holder program. Ladies', designed by Canada's renowned golf course architect Stanley Thompson, is a challenging, well-maintained and environmentally friendly course that winds along the East Don River, affording players great views from a few dramatic elevation changes as the course traverses through the river valley.

The Championship Flight was a demonstration of great golf, as Ryan Taylor (Uxbridge, ON), would improve on his third place finish at this same event, last season. Today, Ryan posted the winning round, with a two-over par 72. He carded two birdies, twelve pars, and five bogies, to give him back-to-back wins in July. Alone, in second today, was Doug McNeil (Aurora, ON), who would post a three-over par round of 73 to capture his first, top three finish of the season. To determine third place, card matching was required, as two players had matching rounds of 74, Jack Franklin (Toronto, ON), and Tom Reynolds (Mississauga, ON). The result of matching the inward nine scores would see Jack capture third place, over Tom. In the Championship Flight's season-long Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Michael Alderman continues to sit in top spot with 635.0 points. In second is Tom Fraser with 462.5 points and, in third, is Sean Kaye, with 460.0 points.

In the A-Flight, making his return to the Tour, Terry Fitzgibbon (Toronto, ON), definitely brought his A game. Terry would have no troubles with Ladies', firing one birdie, nine pars, and eight bogies for a round of 77, to win by one. Placing second, Mike Reynolds (Toronto, ON), scoring his first top three finish of 2015, finished his day with a round of 78. Finishing in third place was Jason Baumeister (Toronto, ON), who scored a round of 81. The A Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit sees Mike Hubbs remain in top spot, with a commanding lead of 734.2 points. In second, Danny MacDonald has 432.5 points and, in third spot, Matt Ward has 400.7 points.

In the B-Flight, the end of the day was thoroughly exciting, with so many just missing out on a win, as the leaderboard was extremely tight at the top. Winning the B-Flight this week was Bob Chapman, who played a steady round, turning in the winning score of 81, to capture his second win of the season. To determine second and third places, card matching was required, as three players had matching rounds of 83: Chris Bromell (Toronto, ON), Bruce MacDonald (Aurora, ON) and Chris Mulchinock (Stouffville, ON). The result of matching the back nine scores would see Chris Bromell capture second place, over Bruce who took home the Mill Street beer and TaylorMade Balls for third place. In the B-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, Bob Chapman and Derek Peters would, once again, trade spots on top, as Bob would move back to top spot this week with the win, with 537.3 points over Derek, who has 493.8. Remaining in the top three, Chris Mulchinock now has 470.4 points.

In the C-Flight, Rene Johnston (Toronto, ON), would make a triumphant return to The Tour..! Rene finished third in this event last year and took it to the next level this year..! Rene, played an outstanding round, scoring an 81 that would earn him a win by four strokes. Alone, in second, Ravi Ragbeer (Toronto, ON), who is coming of a third place finish at last week's event the BMO World Elite MasterCard Major, scored a round of 85. Rounding out the top three, Christian Anderson (Barrie, ON), finished his day with a round of 88. The C-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit continues to see Robert Perri holding down top spot, with 670.0 points. Sitting in second, Jay White has 635.0 points and, jumping into third, Mark Matusiak has 456.3 points.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is by Net score. Net score prizing is calculated across all players who did not place in the top three gross-scoring positions in their respective Flights. The top two net winners, at each event, will receive one dozen TaylorMade golf balls and one case (24) of Mill Street beer. This week's winners were Tom Reynolds, with a net 71 and Kevin Allen, also with a net 71. In addition to the season-long Gross Score, Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, players will compete for a parallel, season-long Net Score Order of Merit. For complete standings click on the link.

The winner of the closest-to-the-pin competition ws Jack Franklin, winning a dozen TaylorMade golf balls. The winner of the Mazda Hole in One, closest to the pin contest, where all players have a chance to win a $2,500 sponsor product shopping spree, was Ian Ervine. Along with these prizes, TaylorMade, Adams Golf and Mill Street Brewery products are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each of the four Flights. The Tour also awards a draw prize at each event for a $50 certificate redeemable at the Mill Street Brew Pub. This event's winner of the Mill Street Brewery Certificate was Al Norman.
