I was not impressed the first time I played this course a number of years ago but had an industry golf tournament there and since I wasn't paying happily went back.
The first time I played it, the greens were slow and the pace of play was even slower. The staff was all new and although they were trying, they just weren't helpful.
Fast forward to this year. The day started under a threat of a thunder storm and rain. It rained only for the first four holes or so, then cleared for a beautiful day.
After the round, the course gave EVERYONE a free 18 hole with cart as compensation for the little amount of rain we got. Being a corporate scramble the pace was good as well.
The course was in excellent shape (September round), greens were a consistent, good speed and the staff were very friendly and helpful.Take it one shot at a time

Re: The best public course in the GTA of 2016
If it's best public track I've ever played in the GTA then it's gotta be Eagle's Nest for sure. Unfortunately, I didn't get a round in there in 2016, or even an Osprey round...so based on the criteria of best public course of 2016 for me it was copper creek. Picked up the golf show deal, played Victoria Day weekend. Course was in great shape. Pace of play was good. I have always enjoyed a day at copper and will be sad when they blow some of it up to build a mega mansion subdivision.
