  • Oban Kiyoshi Tipping??

    Hi
i want to put A Purple Kiyoshi driver shaft in a fairway wood. I can’t find anywhere how much tipping is needed? Anybody know? I bought a Maverik max 11 wood I want to experiment with.

    Thanks

This came from Fujikura website - I would guess this is a good place to start.

Thanks for info. I was checking the Golfworks tipping chart . No Oban but comparing to others looks like 1inch anyway.

          11 wood --30 * of loft
and you have a driver shaft to fit in it.(46" raw length)

you're looking at approx. 40-41" overall for a finished playing length.

What is the shaft 's length now?

I would go to their site and query them before doing any trimming because the purple's active tip is only 2.7" long, so there will have to be butt trim after the tipping is done too.

Thanks. The shaft played 45 inch in a G400. The maverick max 11 wood is 25 deg. It says 40.25 inch is standard length on Callaway site.

If it came out of a Ping G400 good chance the tip has already been trimmed 1".if it played at 45"
So tread carefully about further tipping.

Its a pull right? so what is the shafts length now?

depending on the shaft's weight class you might be able to tip trim another 5/8" if its in the light weight category(45-55 gram)
Nevertheless you are mostly butt trimming to length.

check to what the shaft weight and flex numbers are (R=3. S=4, X=5)

again I will recommend you check with them.

I had the Purple shaft for a while in my driver, quite liked it, very smooth feeling too.

OP what is your typical driver SS ?
Are you aggressive, or smooth with your swing ?

I'd tip it 1.5" at a minimum , or 2" if you go after the ball
With 25* of loft, the head will do the elevation work, so no need to ask much your shaft for help IMO.
FYI at 40.25" playing length, your 25* 11-wood compares to a hybrid with ~19* loft based on typical shaft length.

I’m getting older but I can still get the driver up to 100 swing speed. I’m kinda mid between aggressive and smooth. I sent an email to Oban. Will see. I also “ found” in my collection a Blueboard ion flower band 73 stiff that was in a 5 wood my son had. I might go that direction as I have the tipping info on the Blueboard. I have played Original Blue in my fairways and hybrids before and liked them . I think the Kiyoshi and Blueboard are similar ???
                        thanks for info!!
