  • Titleist National Fitting Centre vs. Others

Has anyone had a fitting at titleist national fitting centre?

I have always been a titleist fan and been using the wedges forever, thinking of just converting the rest to my clubs to all titleist. I will be visiting toronto in the next couple months, wondering if anyone has had experience with the national fitting centre compared to other fitting locations (ie. txg, modern, etc..)

    Thank you!

Do you just want to play Titleist or play what clubs work best for you?

They may be the best for you — but maybe not.

The manufacturers aren’t paying me to play their clubs so I choose to play what works best for me and gives me the greatest chance for scoring well (hence being fit at TXG).

But if you’re dead set on being a Titleist billboard, I’d have to guess that they’d be the best at knowing their own product.

Driven pga in Mississauga has a titleist fitting day next Friday
might be worth checking it out.

6 club types ... no single manufacturer makes the best heads considering all 6.
Do you want to look like a Staff professional or play like one ... your choice!

This is for me and me personally and I know others will disagree with me which I am totally fine with. However, I would never get fitted anywhere other than an OUTDOOR brand's own fitting centre (does not need to be titleist).
          1. I cannot hit into a screen with numbers popping out at you. This is not golf I want to hit certain shots and see shots with my own eyes.
          2. I need to be hitting off real grass in order to really get feel for irons.
          3. Benefit of an indoor fitting you do get real balls over some range fitting, but then this is where if you go to a specific brand's fitting (Eagles Nest Titleist) you get both, real balls and grass.
          4. You really do get more options. The other day I went into a Club Champion and they didn't have 10 degree lefty heads in multiple drivers. Like how can that be a good fitting if they don't have the head you specifically want to try, sure it might not be the best fit but that cannot be determined without hitting it.
          5. Sure custom fitting shops carry 100s of shafts, but let's be realistic, you won't get to try all of them so you'll be hitting the most popular ones and most of those are carried by the OEM.

I have been fit at both the Titleist fitting centre and TXG. Both great experiences!

In July 2021 I did a short game fitting at Titleist. My thinking was that wedges were not most optimally fit on a sim and indoors. I had no basis for that opinion other than a hunch based on years of golf experience. I cannot confirm whether that was the correct move, but I really do enjoy my Vokeys. The fitting was an hour and we moved from full-swing/distance to short game/bunker. I liked being able to test the different grinds, etc.

Titleist was a 9.5/10 experience. Missing the full 10 as it was only an hour and I could have played all day.

TXG I did driver, woods, and irons in January 2022. Three-hour marathon session. I would maybe not recommend doing it all at once as you do get tired. I ended up going Titleist driver & woods, with Mizuno irons.

TXG was a 9.5/10 experience. Missing the full 10 as it is time-constrained, which I fully understand.

Long story short, if you know you love Vokeys, I would absolutely recommend getting them fit at Eagles Nest. As for the rest of your bag, I would probably go to TXG (or Modern) as, while you may end up with a full Titleist bag, there are many other manufacturers and the fitter's knowledge/experience will guide you towards something that is either optimal or pretty close to it for you!

Even if you go with a brand agnostic fitter, you still have to tell the fitter 2-3 options and it's not like you have that much time to try each option to the fullest. It gets narrowed down quite quickly starting with your preference. Each OEM is likely going to have a club for each handicap player

There are brand agnostic fitters that do outdoor fittings as well.

Yes, but then a lot of the times you end up with range balls which is also a no no in an expensive fitting.

I guess you have to balance out the cost - better balls but only one OEM, or range balls and get to try multiple OEM's for the price of one.
