  • Green Speeds at Courses

How are the green speeds where you have played recently ?

July 1 Silver Lakes - smooth and medium quick
July 7 Humber Valley - smooth and slow-medium
July 11 Parkview - smooth and medium
July 13 Lakeview - smooth and surprisingly fast
July 18 Cherry Downs - smooth and very fast

I believe it was last year that Nick Starbuck posted very few GTA courses register faster than 9 on the Stimp.
It's a simple matter of agrarian economy, and keeping the player traffic flowing.

    a little reading.

Our greens ( SAV) are fantastic, smooth , true and consistent ....as good as any I have played this year anywhere.

Speed is moderate, ( not lightning, not slow) . This is on purpose as bl8d says as we are an incredibly busy and quite difficult course. Rough is thick and heavy.

Coppinwood greens are smooth and reasonably quick.
Wyndance a bit rough and sandy but always pretty firm and moderate speed.
Toronto Ladies, soft, a bit bumpy . Probably the worst I have played this year.

I have the current official USGA stimp meter. I’ll be at Eagles nest tomorrow. And Braeben on Saturday. I’ll post the results…

I played this past Monday at the Toronto Ladies Golf Club. They were super smooth and slick! They were however set up for tournament play Monday (GTA AM Tour). Funny how greens can change week to week. I did not take out the stimpmeter as it may have been viewed as an advantage in course knowledge that was not available to all players/public.
