  • Weekend Golf Trip Down South? Arizona is too pricey

I’m looking to go down south with a couple guys in a few weekends. I’m wondering where is good. We want to fly air Canada and Arizona is very pricey, and ac doesn’t do flights into South Carolina. I would like to stay away from Florida as I’ve been there before but if we have to we will just go. Any other states very popular for a winter golf getaway? We aren’t looking to spend a large amount of $$. It’s more just to get out for the weekend from the winter we have here.

if anybody could recommend a nice course where there is nice warm weather I would appreciate it.

    TIA

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. That’s an option I never thought of. I’m totally new to these American courses. Which pinehurst resort is the nicest?

If your not set on using AC, there are cheap, cheap flights out of NFalls NY and Buffalo.

also, to correct above, Pine hurst is not in South Carolina but North Carolina.

A few weekends from now you're into high season for most southern golf destinations so prices are higher and tee sheets busier. At this point Florida may be your best bet in terms of easy AC flights and number of courses to choose from.

While I've never been I've heard there is reasonably priced, decent golf around Williamsburg Va. Could fly into Richmond and rent a car. Or your total door to door travel time might only be an extra couple of hours if guys share the drive instead of flying.

You mentioned your don't want to spend a lot of $$.
Flights to Raleigh via AC are not cheap and if you want to play & stay at Pinehurst resort...it will be very expensive.

I took a buddy away for a pre wedding 3 day trip to Virginia Beach in mid-late March one year. We flew into Washington and drove the 3 hrs or so to VB. Quick and easy. Weather wasn't hot but still shorts weather. VB was cheaper golf than Williamsburg, but courses are not as good.

You could look into the Robert Trent golf trail in Alabama. Although Air Canada doesn't fly to Birmingham anymore, it flies to Atlanta which is 100 miles from Grand National. A good starting point.

If you are stuck on Air Canada, fly to Raleigh and drive to Myrtle Beach. Very busy down south now so not many bargains. Maybe check Air Canada Vacations website to see if they have any package deals. A few years ago we did a Bahamas golf trip with them and while it wasn’t cheap, everything was included

My buddy just got back from Florida. Couldn't get tee times anywhere. They were on the Gulf and Atlantic side. Had a hard enough time getting dinner reservations. He said he was told that so many people moved to Florida during Covid that it's just crazy everywhere there now.

We went to Orlando area and prices were up like everywhere but we had pre-booked golf for 8 thru Tee Times USA so didn't have to look around for times while there.

Air Canada also flies to Nashville. Not sure what the golf courses are like in the area, but there's lots to do between rounds. At one time I heard that Tennessee was going to do a Jack Nicklaus Trail similar to the Trent Jones one in Alabama, but I don't know what ever happened to it.

Apparently some very good courses in Nashville. We were looking at it for an annual boyz weekend in June instead of our usual Collingwood venture

I just did 5 rounds in 3 days in Vegas and paid $50 -$95 per round and all were good courses.

both AC and Westjet fly direct.
