  • Solstice 54 in the GTA - which courses would work best?

I'm planning to play 54 holes on the summer solstice this year. I've got 15.5 hours of daylight to work with, so with 3 rounds, breaks for refreshments, and some minimal travel it should be do-able.

    My plan:

Ideally I don't want to spend much more than $200 for the day, this is about quantity, not quality - so places like TPC, Cardinal are out of the question, and ideally not more than an hour from Toronto, it's already going to be a long enough day, otherwise I'd have considered Niagara Legends, and another local course.

I don't want to play the same course twice.

I'm ok if one of the 3 is exec/par 3.

I'm happy to travel between the rounds, but nothing more than a short drive, and I want to leave enough time I'm not rushing to get to the next course. Ideally one of the locations has two courses (or more)

    My list so far:

    Remington (x2) + Tam O Shanter?
Granite Ridge (x2) + ? (nothing public super close as Hornby Glen is closed this year)
    Rolling Hills (x3)
Deer Creek (North 27, South 18 + Short Course)

    Any other suggestions?

Looking around maybe Mayfield and Banty's Roost, both 27, and really close to each other

Both Bushwood and Glen Cedars are closer to and easier to get to from Parkview than is the Tam.

Mill Run has 27 holes but then you have a bit of a haul to get to another course.

Pheasant Run has 27 and from there perhaps Shawneeki?

The multiple courses at Rolling Hills/Bethesda Green. 54 holes in total on one property. Although some of the courses are 'shorter'.

Would Spring Lakes allow a guest to play all 3 of their courses in one day? If so that could be your best solution.

          Great Brainstorm
Would it be smart to start east then go west…
          Perhaps along 407
          -4 seasons / Remington both
-Do the glen Cedars / Deer Creek and riverside
          -Dentonia / Tam O / Don Valley

Humber Valey / Scarlett Woods / 27 at Centenial Park
Centenial Park 27 / Lakeview / Braeben / Royal woodbine

Port hope ‘ Oshawa airport ‘ Pickering golf 12 holer
          Wow so many potential loops
Who said there is no public golf or lack thereof?!

Search an area on Google Maps.

For example searching "golf courses near ajax" brings up a bunch of course options at various price points with short drives in between that should make it doable.

                Some great ideas there.

                Centennial - Lakeview - Braeben - RW - would be a heck of a day - but I don't think doable in 15 hours.

Centennial - and Braeben 27s could be interesting too, walking all 54 might be possible then.

Probably a bit further than I want to go, but definitely a great option, thanks

Probably out of your $$ criteria. Woodington lake (2 courses) bond head (2 courses) 15 mins apart from each other. pick two at one and one at the other, likely the 2 at Woodington followed by one at BH. Ya ya, BH is slow to play so play one of the bond head courses either first thing in the am or late day (north at BH is usually quieter late in the day).

not to be a debbie downer, the idea is great, but getting a tee time 7 days out for multiple different courses might be a bit tricky. With how the demand for golf has been, any one of those GTA courses you are going to have a difficult time replaying over and over in a single day..let alone moving from course to course without having to wait excessive hours in between rounds

Your best bet would be to find a course with 27 or 36 holes, and just try to replay as much as possible. I know you mentioned "quantity over quality" but, TPC would actually be your best shot and doing this if you're looking to play different courses back to back in a single day

                        Other 'east end' options.

36 holes at Parkview, a course you already mentioned.
9 holes about 5 minutes up the street at Markham Green.
Then you could just 'pop in' to Cresthaven (now Markham Executive) and get 18 par 3 holes. it is probably the best choice late in the day as there are little in the way of trees/hills to block the setting sun. And tee times are relatively easy to obtain.
So in theory 63 holes of golf.

20 or so years ago you would have had your choice of Parkview (36), Brookside (27) and Markham Green/IBM (18 plus a small 9 hole par 3 course) all within less than 5 minutes of each other. And Cedarbrae right beside Brookside if you knew a member there.

                        Otherwise current options:
Glen Cedars and Bushwood are both about 10 - 15 minutes away.
Spring Creek a 9 hole course, Royal Ashburn and Lakeridge Links are all about 20 minutes from Markham Green.

Deer Creek (27 holes), Watson's Glen, Lakeridge, Royal Ashburn, Oakridges are all courses within reasonable distance of each other.

Mill Run. 27 holes on the 'championship course' and 18 holes (5 par 4's) on the 'executive' course. The executive is another course whose layout is conducive to end of day play.

Cross winds (i think they still have that weekday early bird special)
                          Lowville
                          Mt Nemo(Indian wells) twilight

i'm pretty good at online click races, but yeah, I totally get your point - it's going to need a lot of co-ordination, and some backup options.

Totally TPC would be a great option, but I'm not really to spend $400 on the day, and probably not really enjoy the last 18-27 holes at all.

Yeah, Bond Head would totally be on my list, if not for the cost. I want to enjoy a nice 18 at each BH course, when I do play them.
