  • Will Golf Simulators ever be affordable to the common golfer

Will technology ever progress so much that simulators like Trackman will be attainable for the common golfer?

Wondering what your thoughts are on that.

They already are. Skytrak, for example, is an awesome simlator that you can get for under 2k. Does most of what the big simulators do, more than what the common golfer would ever need.

Supply and demand, unfortunately. It seems many people are willing to pay the current prices for the Trackmans of the world, so I doubt it. It also depends on what the definition of 'affordable ' is.

Mevo is a very slimmed down version of flightscope for $us 500. Expect that prices will come down eventually

Things like Optishot exist for this purpose. Now, optishot is nowhere near accurate enough for a serious golfer, but it certainly hits the price of affordable. Skytrack is a great option if you're going to spend a bit more.

But if you want a full in home studio simulator, of course it's going to be expensive. You can get a 26" TV at bestbuy for $200, or you can put in a full home theatre projection screen. One is more affordable than the other, but they are completely different experiences.

Exactly what I was going to say. They already are fairly affordable. Yes, you can get a 100k set up. But you can also have a very nice set up for 5k as well.

You can make this same argument with cars. Do you need the C300 or will the Civic do the same job? Double the price for the C300..
