  • New Taylormade SoftSelect golf balls

Saw these TM SoftSelect golf balls on the costco.ca website - 4 doz for $64
Does anyone know anything about these balls. Can't seem to find any info on them.
Advertized as 3 layers (on the box cover) but description says 2-piece
    Costco website says:

The SoftSelect DDz is a new ball for TaylorMade Golf. It has explosive distance off the tee, precision and distance from the fairway, and its soft feel gives you pinpoint control around the green.

    Features:
    2 x pack of 24 (48 balls in total)
    SPEEDMANTLE technology
    REACT core
    Ionomer cover
    2-piece golf ball
    Explosive distance off the tee
Distance and precision from the fairway
Soft feel and pinpoint control around the green

I'm glad you posed this question, as I was wondering the same thing. TaylorMade doesn't appear to have anything on their site about this ball.
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

Probably a made for Costco/branded by TM. Probably feel rock hard, like a range ball.

Probably re-branded RBZ balls, because that ship has sailed
Every great idea starts out as a blasphemy

          likely.
Alternate to the last K-ball that didn't "fly" that well off the shelf the 2nd time around.

seriously, for that kind of money, 16 bucks/doz you shouldn't expect a 3 piece.

I'm guessing that these are a made for ball by a third party with a TM stamp. Costco does a lot of that particularly with clothing. The K-sig does have a urethane cover, so I would opt for that over this TM ball.

I'm guessing they're replacing the Project (a) and Project (s). There's an article on them on WRX.

EDIT: Actually, those are the Tour and Soft Select. The one shown above is most likely a Costco special.

I don't understand why TM does that. Wouldn't it be easier to just sell multipacks of their regular offerings rather than confusing the issue?

*** This is wrong on Costco's part --- "2-piece golf ball"

As confirmed by TM it is a 3pc ball.

Close replacement to the RBZ balls of old, slight tweaks, but 3pc distance ball make up.

                  Hope info helps.

The new Tour Response and Soft Response balls are the Project A and S replacements. Those to be sold at golf retailers and pro shops where you would have seen the predecessors.

Just tried these on the weekend and just like the old RBZ balls, I'm giving the remaining dozen and a half away. Felt like hitting a rock and lost at least 10 yards on most clubs. Back to Z-Stars for me

It's probably dictated by Costco so they can have a product that's "exclusive" to them. Very common practice in retail with the large players.

Edit - it also protects TM's other retailers as they don't have to compete head-to-head on the regular TM balls.

Wifey picked up these at Costco last week for our sons and I used a sleeve this weekend. Found them to be very good value.

Would be curious to try these out. Two of my favourite balls are the Noodle Long and Soft, and the TaylorMade V3 Speed...both made by TM as "value" balls. Wondering how different these Costco Soft Select ones would be?

LOL....you have a nice set of clubs and you're a competent golfer why aren't you playing premium urethane golf balls?

                              OK to answer your question.
I have found a few Costco Soft Selects.....for a non-urethane golf ball....they perform pretty well.

FWIW...I just found 2 Tour Response golf balls....need to give them a test ride.
