Something I find odd with this new line is.

Crossovers available in 2, 3 and 4.

Hybrids available in 2 through 7.

Isn't a crossover supposed to bridge between hybrids and irons?

Seems there crossover options slot in more between woods and hybrids.

Or are they targeting different players with crossovers?

I would have thought at least a 5 crossover would be an option.

Stronger players. If your driver ball speed is less than 150, you won't get the best out of the crossovers.

I didn’t realize that, so is a crossover suppose to be a little easier to hit than the equivalent long iron?

It used to be that but I'm not sure it still is. Regardless, it's a fine shaft for many players and only a $40 upgrade.

The g425 driver just looks like more of the same from Ping. Of course just an observation on looks, performance is another issue all together.

So I see the 425 line is on the GT website and noticed if you want a hybrid they only have stiff available, also no stiff in graphite iron sets.

Is it because they are waiting on inventory and just listing what they are expecting to receive?
Most of the 425 aren't in stock until the start of February.

I suspect this is just the limitation of their Ecommerce platform. Even for the drivers you can only Get the Alta shaft. I know the email said pre-orders and maybe only
limiting a to stock they are expecting to receive near that date.

I thought the driver was going to be over $700, would love to test it in the future.

I did a webfit on the Ping site and found it odd that it recommends my set make up should go Driver then 7 wood then 5 iron on down.

No other woods or hybrids.

Rick Shiels loved the Max for straightness but I noticed his distance was exactly the same as the outgoing model and he was straight with that one too.
made worse was that he took out a 10 year old ping driver and I think the difference was like 4 yards.
With most swing speeds that will be zero difference. It even looks exactly like the g410 plus I sold in fall.
Just repackaged in Silver vs red with black.

Astute observations on your part. Not a Ping guy, but I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment.

There isn't a whole lot of difference in Driver heads lately. OEMs would like you to believe you can get 5-7 yards more a year with more forgiveness but it's really a load of bull. Now, if you have the wrong type of driver for your swing and the wrong shaft, then switching into the right head/right shaft will probably show big gains. If you were optimized properly 3-4 years ago and your swing and speed are pretty much the same... you aren't going to see much gains, such as the Shiels example today.
