  • Wedge Shafts - Tour Experience Golf (TXG)

Like everyone I'm spending lots of time on YouTube. TXG have a subscription channel. Today they're discussing wedge shafts, very interesting! I remember finding a women's 9 iron at a driving range years ago, very whippy shaft. I hit about a dozen balls with it before turning it in at the shop. I hit lots of high, straight bombs and it felt great. After seeing this video I'm thinking about making my own "Frankenwedge"!

Chi Chi Rodruigez used ladies shafts in his wedges as he preferred the feel.

The stock Vokey "wedge" flex is actually quite soft to my hands (technically it is supposed to just be a DG s200) -- sure, not as soft as above but after a major amount of tinkering last season, I discovered I liked that softer "wedge flex" shaft in my 58* but then went to my "stock iron shaft" (DG120) in my 52 -- then my PW is from the set (DG120s)

Deff took some $$ and tinkering -- but what else is the golf season for!

I tried one out with a couple different light weight Recoil shafts, was great from 25yds in , struggled with distance control on anything longer .... back to regular T20 with Accra isteel 115

I go one flex stiffer in wedges for less spin and trajectory control.....these contribute to better accuracy In these important scoring clubs IMO.

Was looking for a pair of Vokey SM8's from TXG - and they suggested I stay with the modus 120's I have in the rest of my irons (54/58 ish)

I'm using lighter than stock shafts these days in my wedges, and they are soft stepped a few times as well. I didn't go shorter but still feel like I'm getting a little more head speed and am able to flight them down with lots of spin. This is an interesting video, maybe I'll build another set a little differently to be shorter and weaker flex still. I have 5 sets of my wedges to play around with.

That is good advice. Same weight, same feel, same flex pattern.
