  • DIY Hitting Net - Need advise

    Hello all!

Looking to build a hitting net in my backyard (already have a launch monitor). I was thinking of building something that is 10x10X10 that way when my buddies don't sky it, it doesn't end up in my neighbors back yard lol.

If anyone can give me any advice on what material to use or where to get it that would be appreciated. I was thinking of getting pvc piping for the frame and hanging the net on the inside of the piping. Would weigh down the piping somehow to keep it sturdy.

Let me know if you have any ideas!

    Thanks,
    Brent

I like your thinking on PVC piping, big upside down U shape then ending in a T shape on the ground should work.
maybe to hold the net you could loop cable ties around the PVC loosely and that way they would slide.
Maybe just friction fit the pipes then you could take it down easily.
I might do the same, not sure where to source netting from though.

PVC pipe is the way to go for DIY stand. I suggest you slide on pool noodles to protect the pipe, and soften the rebound.

think "hockey net" with three T connectors a to run a center stabilizing bar to the ground bar in the back.

"emt conduit" available at Homedepot or Lowes is another option

Looks like that would be a pretty cost effective way to go, maybe 5 x 10' tubes, 4 of the 90* pieces and a couple of sand bags and a net of course.

Be aware that a golf ball can break pvc piping. Hang the net such that a ball can't strike the pvc.

I’ve been looking into it myself and came across this site - ships to Canada and the cost isn’t bad. Plus it’s rot-proof if you are leaving it out in the elements.

20ft tall custom length green Golf Impact Backstop Netting manufactured from 2.3mm OD HDPP twine with machine-stitched 4mm border rope. Golf impact netting is rot proof and UV treated.

I’m looking to hang mine from the back deck, but wondering if anyone has suggestions on how much slack to include so I don’t put a ball through the window?
