  • 'Vintage' golf balls?

So while routing through a container in the garage I unearthed multiple course guides for courses like The Abbey, IBM, Lionhead, Angus, Deerhurst, etc.

More to the point I found some 'vintage' golf balls.

Two balls marked in black, block letters 'Moe Norman'.
Lots of individual balls with course logos on them. Some of course which no longer exist such as Castlemore.
One sleeve of balls marked 'Gene Littler'. Although the plastic on the container/sleeve has deteriorated.

And the following, all unopened, boxed, with each box containing a dozen balls.

1 box of Topflite Strata (which I believe were used/endorsed by Marc O'Meara during his 'run' in 1998?
3 boxes of Topflite Magna (the oversized golf balls)
3 boxes of Topflite Tour 90
    3 boxes of Z-Balata (Topflite/Spalding)

What are your memories of these?

Are these boxed balls worth playing, holding on to or trying to sell?

None of the above. The Tour 90 was decent, the Strata spinny and short, the Magna was only good for leaving easily identifiable larger ball marks, and the Z-Balata a combo of the Tour 90 and Strata. Nostalgia only.

Depends what ball you are playing now and if you have real feel for the ball on the club.
I don't think though; that you would appreciate playing them.
As there is no way they will increase in value with more aging, I say
put them on FB Market Place or Kijiji somebody will make you an offer for sure.
Could not believe I just sold a 40 year old SLR camera same day.
FWIW I have done quite a few no contact buy and sales during Covid.
Or donate to a junior golf camp maybe.
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

My sister just gave me a box of used golf balls, and there are tonnes of Top Flite XL2000s. I'm going to give them to my kids to use on the course.
In the bag, in various combinations:
Ping G30 10.5*, stiff flex stock
        Nike VR Pro 4w, Project X 6.0
        Nike VR Pro 3h/4h, Project X 6.0
Ping G25 5-PW, stiff flex stock
Callaway X-Forged 56* MD, wedge flex
Cally X-Tour 52*/60* MD, wedge flex
        Odyssey Black #2
        Current hcp ~ 16
