      NiblickJeff , you might enjoy reading about hickory golf as it is played today by one of its very best players, Randy Jensen.

      Start reading #9 onward. Much of the info is relevant to todays equipment and technique.

        Gary's a member of our Society (Golf Historical Society of Canada) and along with +/- 200 other Hickory golf nuts we get together as often as we can with hickory's in hand - last season I think we managed around 60 games in total. Depending upon where you're located you should try the game out the way it was "meant to be played" (if you haven't already) and I bet you become somewhat of a convert.
