Fair enough! Yes, I agree that keeping the headcovers on would eliminate the issue. Its just that when I walk (no pushcart, which tends to be the case), I leave my headcovers in the trunk of my car. This is because I worry I'll either forget the head cover if let's say I place it on the ground after a shot, or it falls if I rest it somewhere initially (also after taking it off to hit a shot) and I don't notice, etc.

I'm not sure about you guys but even with the best intentions of putting a club somewhere I'll see it easily after I'm done playing a hole, a couple of times in my lifetime I've occasionally forgotten a club somewhere and have gone back fortunately to either find it or have a group behind me return it to me. But sometimes I haven't been lucky, in that I've already lost a golf club a few yrs ago... I find especially after I have a bad hole or am rattled, the likelihood of forgetting increases further. So that's why I eliminate all this entirely (at least with headcovers) by leaving them in my trunk where for sure I won't forget them.

Buy a second set of cheap ones. You are really trying to fix a problem that is easily solved (and shouldn't exist in the first place). I walk and have never lost a club or headcover in 45 years. I'd be more worried about denting/scratching the head of a club than losing a headcover.

in day of yore leather headcovers used to come with ringhole grommets and leather thongs that on removal stayed attached to the other head covers.
Maybe Custom and OEM cover manufacturers should implement the metal grommets as a A-Homer option?
