  • Cheap(er) Headcovers - Where?

I just picked up a used Callaway X hybrid 4 on ebay but it didn't come with a headcover. Looking on ebay for a Callaway headcover but there is nothing under $20 (with shipping) it seems. If i'm going to spend $20 i'll go down to GT and get the magnetic one for $19!

So are there any places out there where I could find something cheaper?

    unfortunately..when a retailer orders a headcover,it costs
him something like $15 plus shipping..what would you sell it for?

If you don't insist on getting the same head cover to match your club, I believe you can walk into any GT and they typically have some mismatch HC on sales for $10.

yes. do i like paying that much? no, but that is about right.
however i no longer care about advertising the individual models of clubs i have so i use pom covers.
if you want to advertise it as a callaway club i would spend the same money and get the magnetic one you mentioned as it looks cool and is easier to slip on and off than the original.
plus its in your hands in one visit vs waiting on ebay.
one last suggestion if you want the x one, just ask gt? i often find if you are friendly, polite and get to know the locations they go out of their way. Often they have a storage of so many excess headcovers and the x series is not an old old one so one visit and you may get a freebie.

I think what bothers me the most is the shipping charges. It weighs what, 1 pound?? Why should that cost $10+ to ship?! Crazy... I guess i'm better off picking up the cover at GT.

Lost and found at your club is your best bet. Just ask if there are any unclaimed covers from last season. If they are still unclaimed, no one is coming back for it.

why that cost of shipping? because the fees ebay charges are rediculous when you sell, they take huge amts away from selling price, then when placed in your paypal account they take another chunk, then they make cdn sellers pay the US fees in a bad conversion rate in Cdn and you lose again, then if you take the money out of paypal they take another 2.5% on top of the currency conversion.
So ebay says you should not charge excess shipping but almost everyone takes those huge fees and pads their shipping to get some of it back.
                  Thats why.

If you are near the TO/NY border, I have had some luck dropping by the GolfGalaxy near the outlet malls and they usually have a pre-owned headcover bin, anywhere from $2-10 bones. Obviously, selection is hit or miss.

Check out http://www.clubsncovers.com/. I just picked up a pair of Cleveland HALO hybrids without headcovers, and found some good deals on there. Either that, or tough it out and wait until you find a used one at a pro shop on a course and pick it up for $5 or so.
                      What's in the bag?

                        Thanks for the suggestions guys.

So one question before I walk into GT, is it called a Hybrid x or Hybrid 10 (as in roman numeral for 10)??? Just don't want to sound like an idiot.
