Re: Rickie Fowler to Cobra 2012

Fowler has an opportunity to single handedly grow Puma/Cobra (similar to how Tiger grew Nike GOlf).

Moving in this direction is a great business decision for him.

The new entity, Cobra-Puma Golf, is owned by Fila Korea and Mirae Assets Private Equity as of July 2011. Cobra sponsors Ian Poulter. Puma sponsors Rickie Fowler. Rickie plays Titleist irons, but his style has definitely been incorporated into Cobra's 2012 product line. Check it out:

Re: Rickie Fowler to Cobra 2012

For some reason I don't see Ricky Fowler helping sell Cobra clubs. Maybe I'm just not that impressed with his game or style, but he's no different than Poulter in my opinion. Just another average tour pro in the grand scheme of things. Comparing Ricky to Tiger in terms of marketing or appeal to the average joe is way off.

Re: Rickie Fowler to Cobra 2012

I hadn't looked at Cobra's irons since they had stopped making pro-line clubs after Titleist (or rather Accushnet) had taken them over. I just now revisited the site. They're back. The new Cobra S3 Pro Irons are beautiful. If I did not already own a set of Cobra Pro Forged irons, I would certainly look at these beauties.

As for Rickie Fowler joining their ranks, I say great. His presence tells me that Cobra mean business.
This isn't a dress rehearsal. Enjoy yourself. There's no do-over.

I could see Poulter helping sell more clubs than Fowler, I remember years ago wanting to have Lynx Parallax because Fred Couples played them.

It reminds me of the old auto industry saying which was "win on Sunday sell on Monday" referring to Nascar races.

I agree. If Ricky starts winning, this will help Cobra. But if he continues to be an also-ran, it won't make a difference.

Re: Rickie Fowler to Cobra 2012

Rickie is better as the #1 or 2 staff player for Cobra versus midpack at Titleist...good move...

he still gets his Titleist ProV1 I would assume.
